If you’re on holiday this month and you have a big family, we tell you how you can make the most of your free time, and make sure that the littlest members will have a very special holiday.
The area surrounding Residential Resort Cumbre del Sol is ideal for family fun. We are surrounded by towns and villages that are well established tourist resorts with plenty of cultural activities on offer. We also have amusement parks and water parks close by, a perfect option for children and grownups alike. Want to learn more about what’s on offer? Keep listening!
The great weather means that you can continue to enjoy the beach, the pool and why not water parks as well? They combine water and fun, words that define this time of the year. They can provide more than one memorable day out for children. Benidorm, as the capital of the Costa Blanca is host to most of the water parks. Less than an hour away from Residential Resort Cumbre del Sol, you’ll find Aqualandia, Mundomar and Magic Robin Hood.
Chutes and slides and other water rides are the main attractions of these parks but that is not all that’s on offer. You can also relax in more tranquil water facilities where visitors can chill out. Aqua Natura is one such place. As well as being entertaining, this Benidorm park also has an educational component. For example, you can get to know the sea lions and learn about conservation of the environment. It is a good way of teaching children how to love animals and nature.
As well as Aqua Natura, another venue that focuses on fauna and flora is Terra Natura. This is a zoo and theme park. Here children can meet their favourite animals up close. The perfect day out? What about making the most of their proximity with a family outing, taking in both places on the same day.
If you’re seeking more adrenaline in your activities on the Costa Blanca you won’t have to go far. Terra Mítica is the most famous amusement park in the Comunidad Valenciana. Arranged into representations of ancient civilisations, it evokes different periods in history, which is also a useful learning opportunity for kids.
Much closer to Residential Resort Cumbre del Sol, just 15 minutes away by car, is Family Park (Moraira). As the name indicates, it’s a very interesting place to spend a day out on the Costa Blanca with the family. There are seaside activities to be enjoyed for everyone and every age group.
However, aside from parks, at the Resort you can also go horse riding at Cañada del Sol riding stables, play paddle and tennis in the sports zone with trainers and coaches available if you are a beginner, or need to improve your stroke. And if you love the sea at Glamping Dreamsea, there are plenty of activities for all the family, including SUP paddle boarding, kayaking, etc.
Finally, for culture lovers, at Poble Nou de Benitatxell, where you’ll find Residential Resort Cumbre del Sol, an event known as “Agost a la fresca” is held every summer. This is an open air cinema festival. Young and old alike will be glued to the screen as they are gently wafted by the warm Mediterranean breeze.

Living in Cumbre del Sol means living in the middle of nature, between mountains and the sea. The sandy coves and bays of the Costa Blanca are one of its biggest attractions and as such, these treasures need to be conserved and protected. The cala del Moraig is one of nature’s true gems which can be enjoyed day in day out, especially now when summer is upon us.
One of the conservation measures put in place last year was to prohibit vehicle access to the beach. As a result, to make it easier to get there, Benitatxell Local Council has provided a free bus service from Cumbre del Sol to cala Moraig with buses leaving every 15 to 20 minutes. Say goodbye to reaching this natural paradise on foot!
If you want to visit cala del Moraig, all you need to do is wait for the bus to arrive at the car park close by the descent to the beach. Not only that, but the municipal transport service has organised the buses to take you into the town centre, running four times a day —at 9:30 h, 14:00 h, 16:00 h and 18:30 h. Bear in mind that if you want to have a swim from Monday to Friday instead of the weekend, the first bus leaves at 10 am.
This service makes it easier for you to reach the amazing cala del Moraig beach any day of the week during the months of July, August, and the first fortnight in September. And you can go into town as well if you need to!
As you are well aware, during the summer months, visitors flock to Benitatxell to enjoy this heavenly spot. And it is hardly surprising, seeing that it is one of the most beautiful little coves on the Costa Blanca! However, this year you won’t need to book beforehand when you visit. The controlled access will be organised from the car park from where the bus leaves. If the beach has reached full capacity, you will need to wait until the other bathers have left the beach.

Benitachell: Rediscover Your Municipality
There’s history at the very heart of Benitachell in the form of the parish church of Santa María Magdalena (Saint Mary Magdalene). Built between the years of 1710 and 1774, the church appears commonplace from the outside, but has a magnificent interior, with walls of white and ornaments of gold. It has been remodelled and expanded throughout the years to include a striking dome with blue and white tiles and ornate pendentive.
The church gives way to the second famous monument of the area, El Portalet. As the name suggests, El Portalet is a small portal to the church’s enclosed square. This walled square used to be the nucleus of the town when it was first built. Nowadays, you can visit the square’s viewpoint from which you can spot the Montgó mountain all the way to the Puig Llorença, as well as Cabo San Antonio and even parts of Javea! There’s no better reminder of all the treasures you have so close to your home!
Javea: Fascinating, Beautiful and Full of Architectural Value
Don’t settle on admiring Javea from a distance and take the time to visit its multitude of cultural monuments! Start in the old town, where you will find famous historic buildings like the Ca Lambert. Built in 1857, it’s now an art centre where the town hall organises cultural activities such as exhibitions and workshops. The centre also has two 16th century houses, which feature late Gothic architecture.
Meanwhile, the Mvsev Soler Blasco (The Palace-Estate House of Antoni Banyuls) is one of Javea’s most important cultural monuments. It was once home to Antonio Banyul, King Phillip III of Spain’s butler. The estate was built in the early 17th century and has a unique sandstone exterior. The inside of the estate was remodelled in the late 19th century, therefore the economic prosperity of the times is richly reflected throughout. You can still see the original hand-painted ceramic floor tiles, as well as admire the top floor which is a loggia. The space is now an Archaeology and Ethnographic Museum, featuring artwork by painter Segarra Llamas. Moreover, on the top floor you’ll find priceless artefacts from the 7th to 19th century.
Make the most of your time in Javea and meaner around the old town through walled streets of the old town, architectural monuments in and of themselves. Don’t miss a visit to the Town Hall, the Church of Saint Bartholomew (Iglesia de San Bartolomé) and the neogothic Mercado Municipal de Abastos (Old Market Hall).
Moraira: Rich in History and Culture, from the City Centre to the Coast
We end our historic tour of Marina Alta in Moraira, which offers many religious and public monuments. The most famous religious monument is the Church and Fortress of Santa Catalina Mártir, which was initially built in the early 16th century to protect the townspeople against pirate attacks. As historical treasure, you’ll be able to spot architectural elements from the 18th century onwards, with everything from Neoclassic designs to a reinterpretation of medieval design in the bell tower which was erected in 1895. You can also tour the gorgeous chapels in Moraira. The Chapel of the Divina Pastora’s renaissance façade and baroque décor, as well as the Chapel of Sant Vincent Ferrer’s Neoclassic architecture and colourful cupola are especially recommended.
On the one hand, you have the formerly walled-in historical city centre with its 16th and 17th century details. You can also visit the Sala de Jurats i Justicies. Built in 1620, the building has served as a house, town hall, trading post and more. You can also visit the beach where you’ll find more historic fortresses built to guard against pirate attacks, such as the Castle of Moraira and the Vigia del Cap d’Or Tower.

Residential Resort Cumbre del Sol is at the heart of the Costa Blanca and it offers a wide variety of luxury villas and apartments. All residents choose to live here because of the lifestyle it offers and because it’s the perfect place to enjoy the sun and pleasant temperatures throughout the year, as well as nature and the sea. All these characteristics are typical of the area which has everything you could need, assuring that your new life will be filled with leisure and relaxation. But thanks to the events organized by VAPF and nearby associations, we ensure your life at Residential Resort Cumbre del Sol is also lively. These events allow you to get to know your neighbours, as well as the people who live in Benitachell and neighbouring cities.
First, we’d like to introduce you to the Benitachell International Neighborhood Association. It has 220 members, and they offer quarterly information about the community and neighbourhood. Its members also benefit from some discounts, free rubbish collection, and they can also sign up for food and wine tasting tours, attend cooking classes, etc. We recommend you sign up to get to know the residents and get involved in life at Residential Resort Cumbre del Sol. The Puig Llorença Neighborhood Association (La Asociación de Vecinos Puig Llorença) is also in Cumbre del Sol. In this association, residents gather to talk about matters that affect the neighbourhood and do activities together.
If instead of meeting people who live nearby, you’d rather meet people within your age group, then the Association for Retirees and Pensioners could be perfect for you. Its members often gather to share their life experiences and create memories together. Aside from these associations, there’s also the Neighbourhood Watch, who oversees the monitoring of the area, and the Voluntary Fire Brigade, a group that looks after our safety. Their facilities are by the northern entrance, near The Lady Elizabeth school.
On the other hand, the Teulada Moraira Lions Club forms part of Lions Clubs International (LCIF), which is the biggest organisation in the world, with millions of members and clubs in 210 countries. In October of 2019, the association celebrated its 25th anniversary collaborating with the municipality of Benitachell and attending to the needs of the most vulnerable groups of people. The club has succeeded in acquiring free books, meal vouchers for families, and strong involvement in Christmas campaigns, as well as providing materials through donations to Civil Protection and the Local Police.
However, the town doesn’t only host associations that allow you to get involved on a local or international level to better your local environment; it also offers groups that invite you to take part in traditional activities and sports. For example, if you like to dance, you can join Casa Rociera, a Sevillanas association, or the Grup de Danses Morro Falqui, where you can dress up in traditional costumes and act during local holidays.
Other groups that are rarely absent during local holidays are the members of the Municipal Sta. M. Magdalena Musical Ensemble (Agrupación Músico Municipal Sta. M. Magdalena) and the Asociación de Cavallistes i Carreters. The municipal band was founded in 1987 and is composed of 45 musicians. It has always had an important cultural and social presence, and it was recognized as a Bien de Interés Inmaterial de Relevancia Local (Intangible Good of Cultural Local Interest) in 2011. Meanwhile, the members of the Asociación de Cavallistes i Carreters have revived one of the most traditional holidays: the celebration of “Sant Antoni”. Thanks to the association, it has become a day where people go out into the streets, enjoy a popular lunch and a parade which features neighbours and animal lovers from all over the region.
The bravest and the sports lovers can join the Multiesport Benitatxell Club (Club Multiesport Benitatxell), which offers activities for adults and children: athletics, triathlon and fitness classes. The club also offers specialized training in whichever swimming style you want to improve, so you can get results and be more efficient when swimming.
This brief presentation of nearby associations couldn’t come to a close without mentioning BioMoscatell. This vineyard project was started in 2012 and aims to maintain traditions. It offers a quintessential wine that’s native to the region: the muscatel wine. The association produces its own wine, the Moraig wine, and organises walking tours so anyone can discover the passion and work behind what they do.

After the recommendations we made in our first and second post, we’d like to bring you more cities close to Residential Resort Cumbre del Sol you can visit. This time we are focusing on cities with a more relaxed lifestyle, and with a much smaller population than the previous cities.
You don’t have to go very far to discover two small towns like Gata de Gorgos and Teulada-Moraira, both located in the comarca of Marina Alta, just a few kilometres away from Benitachell. Villajoysa in Marina Baixa is, and there’s no better way to say it, the sweetest way to end your journey.
Gata de Gorgos: craftsmanship showcases the city
Just 18 kilometres separate Cumbre del Sol from the town of Gata de Gorgos, which is in the interior of La Marina Alta. The contrast between the hustle and bustle of the coastal towns and this small town can be felt as soon as you set foot inside of it.
Something else that stands out as soon as you enter Gata de Gorgos is the presence of artisanal products like guitars, hats, baskets and wicker bags. The fact that the population is just under 6000 inhabitants won’t stop you from finding ten hat factories, seven specialised in bags and two in guitars.
Among the town’s many spots to explore we highlight its Cuevas Rojas or any of its many hiking trails. When you finish in Gata de Gorgos, you can head back towards the Costa Blanca seaside.
Teulada-Moraira: viewpoints to gaze at dreamlike beaches
Teulada and Moraira are two must-see stops in La Marina Alta. Speaking about them at the same time is just a question of location: Moraira is a part of the Teulada municipality (also known as the Teulada-Moraira municipality). Before reaching the coast, stop by the principal town of Teulada and discover the town walls that once surrounded it. Continue your route towards the coast calmly and enjoy the natural nooks you’ll encounter throughout your journey.
When you reach Moraira you can choose where to start from. You have viewpoints like Portitxol and L’Andragó, where you can rediscover the blue of the Mediterranean. You can opt to walk along its eight-kilometre beach while you decide if you want to go for a swim or not, or you can ponder if you should eat at one of its many restaurants before you leave. A high percentage of Moraira’s population are from abroad, which is why you can try dishes from all over the world.
Villajoyosa: the sweetest tradition
The last stop before returning to Residential Resort Cumbre del Sol will end the journey on a sweet note. Villajoyosa, in the comarca of Marina Baixa, owes its fame to an excellent chocolate tradition, thanks to the different sweets factories you’ll find here.
Don’t get too full on dessert and make sure to walk through streets like Arsenal, del Pal, Pou and Sant Pere so you can witness the most photographed and postcard-worthy part in La Vila: the colourful facades of its homes. Don’t miss out on the chance to discover the old city, where you will find the church of Nuestra Señora de Asunción, the Torre de Sant Josep (Saint Joseph’s Tower), the XVI century Torres Vigía and the walled enclosure that used to surround it.

If you live at Cumbre del Sol Residential Resort you know better than anyone that it’s an invigorating experience for all the senses. The weather, landscapes, and beaches together create the perfect combination for the dream life you’ve always hoped for. However, the Costa Blanca in general and Poble Nou de Benitatxell specifically has hidden secrets and delights that you might not be aware of. To discover them, we propose a series of free guided tours offered by the Town Hall during the following months. If you haven’t considered going, think again and take note of the ones that are happening in September!
Take advantage of this month to discover the centre of Poble Nou de Benitatxell with the History and Heritage Route (La Ruta Histórica y de Patrimonio), which takes place every Friday at 6:00 pm and offers you a glimpse into the history, culture, and gastronomy of the town. The route begins with a guided visit of the Santa María Magdalena church and continues along the “El Portalet” old wall and the Jaume Llobell chapel. The second part of the route focuses on traditional architecture with a visit to the “riuaus” or raisin drying facilities and takes you through the Pous de I’Abiar, the Cova de las Bruixes and ends by contemplating the beautiful landscape of the vineyards. Undoubtedly, this route is the perfect opportunity to better understand the Iberian, Roman, and Muslim past of the town.
On the other hand, the Cliffs’ Route (La Ruta de los Acantilados) offers you a guided tour along the coast next to the cliffs until you reach Cala Llebeig. Thanks to this visit, you can get to know the hidden stories behind the places where smugglers, fishermen, and farmers lived and gathered and collected experiences in this part of the Costa Blanca. Bear in mind that the trail is not an easy one, and runs through cliffs, ravines, and the Cala Moraig fault. If you are interested, the visit takes place every Thursday in September at 5:30 pm.
In addition to these routes, considering Benitatxell’s desire to promote its historical and cultural heritage, the town is organizing another nocturnal route, with the title “Between witches and bandits,” in Spanish, “Entre brujas y bandoleros.” The local historian Pepe Cano was responsible for creating this tour that turned out to be a big success by bringing together more than 100 neighbors and tourists.
