Solidarity in Times of Crisis

Solidarity in Times of Crisis

It has not been an easy year for anyone. Starting with the health sector, various sectors have seen their activity reduced or interrupted. This was true for the cleaning, transport, food and hospitality sectors.

The latter has had great difficulty in recent months in resuming its activity and making it profitable and comparable to the rhythm of work prior to the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. On-site consumption in bars, restaurants and other catering establishments has clearly been affected by the health situation. There have been many weeks in which opening the doors was not an option.

Fortunately, and as a response to this unviable situation, businesses have been able to adapt and find other ways to offer their services and continue working, always respecting health and safety measures. In this sense, take-out has kept many businesses going.

But in this equation, businesses can’t make it happen without customers. Therefore, as a supportive initiative and to encourage the purchase of takeaway, many town councils have distributed information about the bars and restaurants that offer a take-out option to residents.

This is the case for Poble Nou de Benitatxell, where the Residential Resort Cumbre del Sol is located. Here, the council has distributed a leaflet with contact information for those establishments with takeaway service. In fact, one of them is Como en casa, the Mediterranean cuisine restaurant in our Sports Area.

In Benissa, where our Galeno Villas development is located, the town hall has also made a compilation with all the restaurants and bars that offer meals for pick up at the establishment or home delivery by appointment. In this case, the offer is very varied: from tapas restaurants to pizzerias, being supportive has never been so easy!

And there’s more: Teulada Moraira town council has also joined this supportive network by giving its bars and restaurants the opportunity to advertise on its website, as well as offering their residents information about it. The initiative, called ‘ Teulada Moraira at your table’, brings together all the information on cuisine options that Teulada Moraira residents can enjoy from their homes.

Workout at home

Beyond gastronomy and, as resident, being able to help the hotel and catering sector, there are also other initiatives in which we can collaborate during the pandemic.

One of them is sport. Have you also joined the fitness movement that got underway during the State of Alarm? Many people started to exercise at home accompanied by professionals on the screen. In Benissa, they have set up their own online classes! The municipal swimming pool offers total training, GAP, bodypower, hiit… there’s no excuse not to get fit!

There’s less and less time now before restrictions become a thing of the past. But in the meantime, as we have discussed, there are many ways to be supportive and help ease the burden for those who are having a harder time now… You can also check our blog regularly and follow us on Facebook and Instagram to find out all about the initiatives being launched near you. Every little bit counts, are you ready to help?

A Little Culture Close to Home

A Little Culture Close to Home

Residential Resort Cumbre del Sol is very well located in the northern Costa Blanca region between Valencia and Alicante, two large cities that have a lot of cultural activities, such as concerts, theatre performances and exhibitions that you can visit without having to move far from your home. For this reason, the Teulada-Moraira auditorium, less than 10 km away, invites you to discover its new program. Don’t miss this unique opportunity to reconnect with culture in this very peculiar time we are living in while respecting health regulations.

The great Concha Velasco will be unveiling this new season, beginning on March 14th, with her production La habitación de María. This is an incredible opportunity because the artist has already announced that she will not be back on the stage after this tour.

The next event will feature music. The Valencian group, La Fúmigawho performs with wind and percussion instruments chose March 27th as their date. The following performance will be by the Emportats group on April 3rd with their La Trocola show. Suitable for all audiences, this performance awakens the senses and proposes a comic and poetic journey thanks to the perfect fusion of juggling acts with acrobatics and music.

Nextwe’ll have to wait until June 5th to attend the scriptwriter, humorist and journalist Eugeni Alemany’s show. This event is a mix of humor, fun and improvisation with which you are sure to have a great evening.

Later, thMayumana Currents Group performance had to be postponed to October 30th when we will finally be able to discover their talent. Theater, dance, music, mime, clowns and even percussion. These four men and four women offer you a unique and incredible show that can be enjoyed by both young and old.

As for Jonatan Penalba’s concert initially scheduled for January 16th, the organisation has had to postpone it and will soon announce the new date. We invite you to check the website regularly and the auditorium’s Facebook page in case there are any changes or cancellations. This is a good opportunity to let you know that the organisation offers the possibility of keeping the tickets or requesting a refund, so don’t hesitate to make your reservation to enjoy these artists.

Winter is the perfect season to enjoy different outdoor activities with lower temperatures and less people than the summer brings. There are activities for all tastes and just a few kilometres from your home. You can stay around Cumbre del Sol and play a game of tennis or paddle, go for a horse ride or even go hiking on one of the many trails to discover the coast or the Granadella Natural Park. If you’ve already soaked up everything that Cumbre del Sol has to offer and you want to live new adventures, you can always explore the regions of Marina Alta, Marina Baixa and l’Alacantí.

Discover the history of these three regions of the province of Alicante by visiting the most symbolic towns. You can start by conquering the tallest mountains in the region, set new challenges by practicing extreme sports or admire the beauty of nature and the sea by following the different trails that pass through some of the natural parks or along the coast.  Living on the Costa Blanca gives you a unique opportunity to enjoy both the mountains and the sea.

In addition, the city of Alicante has started a new campaign to show that water sports can be done year-round. Since the end of October, Alicante’s tourism department has been organising numerous free activities that you can participate in every Friday, Saturday and Sunday on the beaches of Postiguet and San Juan until the last weekend of December. Spots are limited, so you will have to register and wait for confirmation. Finally you can try out sports such as: paddle surfing, SUP yoga, sea kayaking, surfing, bodyboarding and boot camp. On the official Alicante tourist office website you can consult the timetables, activities and registration.

As you can see, there are a lot of activities for you to enjoy alone or with your family in the region where you live, both in summer and in winter. Don’t forget to check out our blog and follow us on Facebook and Instagram so that you are always up to date about VAPF’s developments.

Another Great Week at Cumbre del Sol Thanks to the Padel Tournament!

Last week we had one of the best weeks of the summer at Residential Resort Cumbre del Sol – with great weather, lots of sunshine and plenty of opportunities to make the most of the gorgeous natural surroundings. However, there’s something that made last week particularly exciting… The padel tournament we held in our courts!

This event was organised by the North Costa Blanca Padel Club and sponsored and hosted by VAPF. The tournament ran from the 6th of August to the 9th and it consisted of various daily matches. Everyone who participated was paired up and split between different categories of varying difficulties. Each match was more exciting than the last; it was a pleasure to watch people with a range of abilities try their best and truly enjoy playing sports in our facilities.

Every day, the matches began at 16:00 and lasted until late the evening. The players and audience got to enjoy the best of the Costa Blanca’s weather while simultaneously enjoying the game. Beautiful sunny skies melted away into a breathtaking sunset, which then gave way to the refreshing sparkling night sky.

Everyone involved showed stupendous sportsmanship. Even as the tournament became more and more competitive, the element of friendliness and community remained. It is a joy to see a wide variety of residents come together and enjoy Cumbre del Sol and all it has to offer. Regardless of who won or lost, everyone seemed more than satisfied to have gotten a chance to participate and give their all.
