The cold, wind, and rain often make for a perfect wintertime plan: sofa, blanket, and a movie. Although we love to spend time at home with our loved ones, on the Costa Blanca you will have many other options, thanks to its average temperature of 18 °C and more than 300 days of sunshine a year. The climate is perfect to enjoy its landscapes and activities all year round. In summer it’s always easy to find a good plan; head for any of the dreamy coves that we have close by for a swim, either at midday or to enjoy the evening breeze. However, in winter you might have to get more creative, so we decided to compile a series of interesting plans for this time of year. Ready to discover them?
- The most charming inland villages: You can visit them any time of the year, but their beautiful mountain landscapes, castles and old towns make these villages even more special during the wintertime. Here are some examples not far from home: Guadalest, Teulada and Polop de la Marina.
- Jávea’s route of 15 lookout points: In winter we enjoy the coast in a much more leisurely and relaxed way, which allows us to contemplate the beauty of its landscapes. This is the perfect time to do this route and discover beaches like Granadella or Portitxol from up high. Don’t miss Cala Blanca or the Creu del Portitxol, with views of Cap Prim and one of Jávea’s most peaceful beaches, Cala Sardinera.
- The most lovely museums: During the summer you can enjoy the nice weather by going for a swim in the sea or having a drink on the terrace, so we recommend that you take advantage of the chilly winter weather to visit those museums you have pending. There is something for everyone, such as the Chocolate Museum in Villajoyosa for those with a sweet tooth, the Comic Museum in Calpe, or the Abargues House Museum (Casa Museo Abargues) in Benissa, where you can travel back in time as it is a replica of a stately home from the 18th-19th centuries.
- A 5-star plan: Winter brings with it new seasonal foods and what better place to taste them than in the best restaurants of the area? You are in luck, because our Residential Resort Cumbre del Sol is surrounded by Michelin Star restaurants. Which one do you want to try first?
As you can see, options for activities along the Costa Blanca are endless, regardless of the time of year. You can follow our blog and our social media accounts to get the most out of the area and find out about activities taking place both in the surrounding area and at Residential Resort Cumbre del Sol. We’ll see you soon!

Living in Residential Resort Cumbre del Sol allows you to experience all the benefits of the Mediterranean with all five senses. There are warm temperatures almost every day of the year, peaceful beach and mountain landscapes, captivating and charming towns, and well-established gastronomy that will continuously surprise you. And it’s precisely the gastronomy that should be celebrated as yet another restaurant in Marina Alta has been awarded the most important gastronomic honour: a Michelin star.
The star has arrived at Jávea this time around, making its way to Restaurante Tula. This barely 70m2 locale has managed to conquer the taste buds of its clients by reinterpreting traditional Spanish cuisine while using the most delicious local produce. Borja Susilla and Clara Puig carefully craft each plate down to the very last detail. Their food transmits their years of experience gained while training in the best kitchens in Spain. Despite opening just under three years ago, they represent the flavour of the region in every bite. Take advantage of its proximity and reserve a table in front of Arenal beach, just a 15-minute drive from your home. To reserve a table, you can visit their website or call 966 471 475. One piece of advice? Don’t leave without trying their caramelised rice pudding!
If you want to continue your Michelin star route after visiting Restaurante Tula, then you’ll be happy to know that Residential Resort Cumbre del Sol is the perfect starting point. We’ll take this opportunity to mention some of the best restaurants which are just a short drive away from your home.
In Jávea, just 15 minutes away:
El Rodat: You can find this one Michelin star restaurant in the El Rodat Hotel in Jávea. Its chef, Nazario Cano, is always in search of new ways to interpret traditional cuisine. Wine lovers are also in luck as this restaurant has an exceptional wine cellar.
BonAmb: Also in Jávea, Alberto Ferruz’s talents have been recognized with two Michelin stars. This restaurant is located in an idyllic setting as it’s next to the Montgo Natural Park. Taste and elegance are rendered into exquisite dishes at this restaurant.
In Calpe, just half an hour away:
Audrey’s: Rafa Soler, a true ambassador of Mediterranean gastronomy, works with the best ingredients and the most select products to create a pleasant surprise for your palate. His aim is to evolve from Valencian cuisine without losing touch with his gastronomic roots. You can’t miss it!
Beat: From the hands of Jose Manuel Miguel, Beat represents gastronomic excellence. At Beat, they select their ingredients carefully, choosing the best seasonal produce for their dishes. The restaurant is in the CookBook Hotel, an unmatchable location which is a delight for the senses. It’s perfect for spending a day at the spa with your significant other or taking part in a cooking class.
Orobianco: With views overlooking the Mediterranean Sea and the Peñón de Ifach from its panoramic terraces, this restaurant is an absolute luxury. It’s also the only Italian restaurant in Spain with a Michelin star. Orobianco is, without a doubt, an essential stop for all gastronomes.
In Ondara, 30 minutes away:
Casa Pepa: This marvellous restaurant is inside a gorgeous 140m2 country house, surrounded by orange trees, a vegetable garden and olive trees. It’s a peaceful oasis run by Sole and Tona Ballester, who have kept their mother’s (the original founder) talents alive in their cooking.
And in Dénia, 35 minutes away:
Quique Dacosta: This chef of his eponymous restaurant is a prized symbol of Alicantean gastronomy. His talents are backed by three Michelin stars and 26 years of cooking experience, during which he’s managed to fuse together creativity and the roots of the region. You can’t miss out on tasting his dishes, dining here is a perfect culinary experience.

Dec 13, 2019 | Activities/Services, Cumbre del Sol
The Costa Blanca is a wonderful place due to its excellent weather and lovely little towns that are spread throughout the whole area. Benitatxell, being one of those towns, is where you’ll find Residential Resort Cumbre del Sol, home to our best apartment and luxury villa developments. Furthermore, during this season, the landscape transforms to make way for autumn postcards and offers a very special Christmas under the sun and next to the sea. Sometimes it’s hard to believe that it’s wintertime here, as the temperatures are so mild and the weather is spectacular, but little by little, the Christmas spirit is sweeping over the region. In fact, we’ve decorated different places at Cumbre del Sol and the residents have decorated their homes to welcome the holidays.
Besides Cumbre del Sol, all the towns and cities that are close by also organise numerous events to celebrate Christmas. This is the case for Benissa that inaugurated their nativity scene on the 1st of December. Music, films, workshops, and a Christmas market…Benissa has everything that you could need to spend a magical time with your family and friends, and just like in years past, the Three Kings will arrive to the city on January 5th to hand out gifts.
Benitatxell is no exception, as they have organised a Christmas market on the 15th of December with food stalls, clothes, arts and crafts, a gymkhana, and the famous “Burreta de Nadal” or Christmas donkey. In addition, children between the ages of 3 and 12 have until December 18th to enrol in Christmas school and do crafts, sports, traditional games and Christmas activities with other children on the 23, 24, 27, 30 and 31st of December and 2nd and 3rd January from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm. We’ll give you a preview of the whole schedule for the month of December, as on the 24th, Santa Claus will visit the city with a parade starting at 5:00 pm. The youngest ones can watch a film in the social centre on Thursday, the 26th at 6:30 p.m., listen to Christmas carols on the 27th at the church or even watch a puppet show on the 28th at 12:00 pm. We can also tell you that the first week of January will be full of fun Christmas events: a visit from the Three Kings’ messenger (January 2nd), a children’s theatre, Christmas park with blow-ups, face painting and much more (January 4th). Don’t forget the traditional Three Wise Men parade and the distribution of gifts (January 5th at 6:30 pm).
To the south, you’ll find the town of Teulada-Moraira, also close to Cumbre del Sol. After the Teulada English Choir’s Christmas concert on December 6th, the city will be totally immersed in music as the AMCT invites you to attend its Christmas concert scheduled for December 20th in the Santa Catalina church in Teulada. In addition, the Teulada-Moraira Auditorium offers you an exception program during the holidays with a performance of Swan Lake by the Moscow Ballet and they UCAM Symphony Orchestra on December 21st, and the Christmas concert by Alicante’s Youth Orchestra (OJPA) on December 28th. On December 22nd, the city will have a typical Christmas market on Avenida Santa Catalina and the Town hall Plaza, Plaza del Ayuntamiento, in Teulada with local artisanal products. You can also continue until you reach Altea where you’ll find an ice-skating rink, rides, and games that await you in the Plaça del Nadal.
If you’d like to live a different and unique experience, then we recommend visiting the Baleária Port in Dénia. The city has everything up and ready for Christmas, in fact they turned on the lights and kicked off the holiday season on November 30th. Both adults and the younger ones can enjoy the ice-skating rink (until January 6th) and inflatable castles (until January 4th). In addition, the Jauja Port will host a concert by Valencia’s Higher Conservatory Orchestra, magician, Hugo Arcil, will surprise everyone with his tricks on the 23rd, and the children’s show “El Mundo de Drilo,” will take place on December 30th.
Lastly, you can take advantage of Christmas to visit Valencia or Alicante. Cumbre del Sol is conveniently located halfway between the two cities, both offering a multitude of activities throughout the month of December and early January: lights, a Christmas market, Santa Claus’ house, ice skating rinks, slides, a fair, and the Cavalcade of Magi (Three Kings Parade).
The best time of the year begins now and VAPF wants to make sure that you enjoy it to the fullest. Let yourself be swept away by the Christmas spirit and discover everything that’s been organised in the surrounding area to make these holidays exceptional. As for us, we invite you to unleash your creative side by decorating your home and we remind you that the best way to find out about the events we organise is by following us on our Facebook page.

The Costa Blanca is a place that offers all sorts of activities. Its unique terrain and year-round pleasant temperatures offer limitless possibilities of things to do, not only on the coast but also throughout the whole province of Alicante. If you love adventure sports, then pay close attention as you’ll definitely love these four recommendations… and there’s an added bonus, they’re all close to Residential Resort Cumbre del Sol!
The province of Alicante is one of the most mountainous in Spain, this can be easily seen in the many excellent climbing options it has to offer. One of the closest (and prettiest) to Cumbre del Sol is the Sierra de Toix, in Calpe. Its stunning combination of sea and mountain views make for a beautiful panorama. Thanks to this, it’s an ideal place to go and enjoy a day of climbing.
Following the mountain theme and going towards the interior of the province, you’ll find one of the most spectacular via ferratas less than an hour away from Cumbre del Sol: The Monte Ponoig, in the municipality of Polop de la Marina. The route is almost a kilometre in length, with a slope that’s 265 metres deep and it takes an estimated hour and a half to complete. It’s a mandatory challenge for everyone in the province of Alicante who loves this adventure sport!
If you’re interested in going canyoning (gorge walking), there are many centres in Calpe which offer packages. You can get started with one of the most fun types of canyoning: water canyoning. If you’d prefer to go by yourself, you can go to any of the following canyons in the province: L’estret de Les Penyes, in Abdet; the Barranco de Mela (Mela Canyon), in Bolulla (where you can also enjoy water slides); and the Gorgo de la Escalera, in the town of Anna (which is near Játiva).
We conclude with an adventure sport that gets more and more popular each year: trail running. If you also find yourself loving it more and more every day… then you’re in luck! Just a few minutes away from Residential Resort Cumbre del Sol, Benissa hosts the Perimetral Benissa race every year. You can choose between different routes: the 23km Trail, the 42km Marathon, and the most famous of all, the 73km Ultra. Don’t miss out on this opportunity to get to know the Marina Alta mountains!
As you can tell, there’s a never-ending amount of activities to enjoy at Residential Resort Cumbre del Sol. You can start a different adventure every day. What’s stopping you from starting a new life? Contact us and discover all the options within your reach.
Nov 22, 2019 | Activities/Services, Benitachell, Cumbre del Sol
Residential Resort Cumbre del Sol is at the heart of the Costa Blanca and it offers a wide variety of luxury villas and apartments. All residents choose to live here because of the lifestyle it offers and because it’s the perfect place to enjoy the sun and pleasant temperatures throughout the year, as well as nature and the sea. All these characteristics are typical of the area which has everything you could need, assuring that your new life will be filled with leisure and relaxation. But thanks to the events organized by VAPF and nearby associations, we ensure your life at Residential Resort Cumbre del Sol is also lively. These events allow you to get to know your neighbours, as well as the people who live in Benitachell and neighbouring cities.
First, we’d like to introduce you to the Benitachell International Neighborhood Association. It has 220 members, and they offer quarterly information about the community and neighbourhood. Its members also benefit from some discounts, free rubbish collection, and they can also sign up for food and wine tasting tours, attend cooking classes, etc. We recommend you sign up to get to know the residents and get involved in life at Residential Resort Cumbre del Sol. The Puig Llorença Neighborhood Association (La Asociación de Vecinos Puig Llorença) is also in Cumbre del Sol. In this association, residents gather to talk about matters that affect the neighbourhood and do activities together.
If instead of meeting people who live nearby, you’d rather meet people within your age group, then the Association for Retirees and Pensioners could be perfect for you. Its members often gather to share their life experiences and create memories together. Aside from these associations, there’s also the Neighbourhood Watch, who oversees the monitoring of the area, and the Voluntary Fire Brigade, a group that looks after our safety. Their facilities are by the northern entrance, near The Lady Elizabeth school.
On the other hand, the Teulada Moraira Lions Club forms part of Lions Clubs International (LCIF), which is the biggest organisation in the world, with millions of members and clubs in 210 countries. In October of 2019, the association celebrated its 25th anniversary collaborating with the municipality of Benitachell and attending to the needs of the most vulnerable groups of people. The club has succeeded in acquiring free books, meal vouchers for families, and strong involvement in Christmas campaigns, as well as providing materials through donations to Civil Protection and the Local Police.
However, the town doesn’t only host associations that allow you to get involved on a local or international level to better your local environment; it also offers groups that invite you to take part in traditional activities and sports. For example, if you like to dance, you can join Casa Rociera, a Sevillanas association, or the Grup de Danses Morro Falqui, where you can dress up in traditional costumes and act during local holidays.
Other groups that are rarely absent during local holidays are the members of the Municipal Sta. M. Magdalena Musical Ensemble (Agrupación Músico Municipal Sta. M. Magdalena) and the Asociación de Cavallistes i Carreters. The municipal band was founded in 1987 and is composed of 45 musicians. It has always had an important cultural and social presence, and it was recognized as a Bien de Interés Inmaterial de Relevancia Local (Intangible Good of Cultural Local Interest) in 2011. Meanwhile, the members of the Asociación de Cavallistes i Carreters have revived one of the most traditional holidays: the celebration of “Sant Antoni”. Thanks to the association, it has become a day where people go out into the streets, enjoy a popular lunch and a parade which features neighbours and animal lovers from all over the region.
The bravest and the sports lovers can join the Multiesport Benitatxell Club (Club Multiesport Benitatxell), which offers activities for adults and children: athletics, triathlon and fitness classes. The club also offers specialized training in whichever swimming style you want to improve, so you can get results and be more efficient when swimming.
This brief presentation of nearby associations couldn’t come to a close without mentioning BioMoscatell. This vineyard project was started in 2012 and aims to maintain traditions. It offers a quintessential wine that’s native to the region: the muscatel wine. The association produces its own wine, the Moraig wine, and organises walking tours so anyone can discover the passion and work behind what they do.
Now that you know the main associations that are within your reach, all that’s left to do is to choose one. Sign up and share unique moments with your new friends. You can also follow us on Facebook so that you don’t miss out on any event. We hope to see you soon at Residential Resort Cumbre del Sol!
