From Denia to Pilar de la Horadada: The Costa Blanca is a Mediterranean Paradise

From Denia to Pilar de la Horadada: The Costa Blanca is a Mediterranean Paradise

244 km of coastline, 20 villages and an average annual temperature of 18 °C. The Costa Blanca is a paradise, and we know we don’t have to do anything to prove it! Still, we want to tell you about some of the peculiarities of this region and encourage you to visit its most emblematic places.

First of all, why the name Costa Blanca (White Coast)? There are different theories, but the most convincing one is clear just by observing the landscape. From the sky, the view of this coast is, as its name suggests, white. From its sandy beaches to the architectural aesthetics of its villages and white homes like those of VAPF. This white contrasts with the crystal-clear blue waters that further enhance the radiance of the coastline. Another theory attributes this famous name to British Airlines.  According to this theory, the airline used this name in 1975 to promote a flight between London and Valencia.

If there is one thing that stands out about the Costa Blanca, it is the geography. Have you heard of the Peñón de Ifach? This corner of the region, located in Calpe, is home to a natural park that is free to visit but does require reservations. From Residential Resort Cumbre del Sol you can reach it in half an hour by car, so it’s a great option for a day trip!

But Calpe is much more! Without going any further, the Baños de la Reina (Queen’s Baths) is next to the Salinas de Calpe. These are artificial pools that are carved into the rock and which contain a lot of history. Initially dedicated to aquaculture, today they make up one more historical attraction along the Spanish Costa Blanca. You can enjoy activities such as snorkeling to discover its underwater tunnels.

We were talking about the characteristic white color that washes the facades of the Costa Blanca. It’s not just Santorini or Ibiza that enjoy such views! Just a few kilometers from Residential Resort Cumbre del Sol, Altea stands as a white paradise. This town is beautiful from the outside but holds just as much charm on the inside. Its many monuments and landmarks show the passage of time and the mark that history has left on it. A good overview of all this can be experienced by taking a walk through the Old Town. It stands out for its preserved old town with its cobblestone streets, white houses and flowerpots.

And if you are a history buff, you can head towards Denia. Just over half an hour’s drive from Residential Resort Cumbre del Sol, here you can travel through centuries of history in just one day! Denia Castle is home to Roman, Muslim and medieval Christian remains. These traces can be found all over the city, from the historic district of Les Roques to the Torre del Gerro. The latter is a watchtower-built centuries ago with the aim of controlling the coast and its visitors.

All this geography filled with history and incomparable natural landscapes offers many interesting hiking routes. In Denia, the Montgó natural park is both a landscape and a viewpoint from which to contemplate the Mediterranean Sea. The hiking trails are only part of the many routes that can be done from Cumbre del Sol. One can also enjoy them cycling, scuba diving, etc…. there is no time for boredom!

So you can see that your life at Cumbre del Sol is filled with plans surrounded by nature and full of history. And for more suggestions, don’t hesitate to visit our blog and follow us on Facebook and Instagram you too can be part of the Costa Blanca!

Residential Resort Cumbre del Sol Is Also Springtime

Residential Resort Cumbre del Sol Is Also Springtime

You’ve probably noticed that it is very common to associate seaside resorts with summer. Today we are ready to disprove this belief: spring is also the perfect season to enjoy the coast.

And that is something we are very sure about at Residential Resort Cumbre del Sol, because spring makes Benitatxell the perfect setting to ensure that your new home provides you with unforgettable memories. Today we want to tell you about a few activities you can’t miss if you decide to spend the most flowery season of the year at Cumbre del Sol Residential Resort.

As we said: nature comes back to life in spring. We can’t think of any better plan than to enjoy the spectacle!

The Costa Blanca is one of the best places to enjoy the almond blossom. Have you ever seen the vast fields full of almond trees with their distinctive pink blossoms? It is on the same level as the Japanese cherry blossom, a landscape that you have surely seen on more than one occasion on television or social media.

But Alicante landscapes can rival those of Japan! With thermometers already reaching over 20°C and the sun shining almost every morning, your backpack will be your best ally! In the area there are several hiking trails where you can enjoy a peaceful day strolling among the almond trees and flowers.

Half an hour’s drive from Benitatxell you’ll find Alcalalí, a town whose valley is a blanketed by almond blossoms at this time of year. There are several routes, differentiated by their lengths as well as by the difficulty of their terrain. What is certain is that the smell, the sound of the Gorgos river and the landscape will awaken all five senses wherever you go.

But the routes don’t end here. Closer to home, in fact, with departure from Residential Resort Cumbre del Sol, there are different hiking trails to enjoy places like the Falla del Moraig, the Camí de la Serp or the Penya-segats route, which runs along the coast.

If you are more interested in bike excursions, there are also adapted routes. There are simple ones, such as the Calistros-Abiar, to more complex and professional ones, such as the Puig-Llorença. There is a wide range of options for you to choose the one that best suits you!

In addition, the Mediterranean temperatures are already warming up so you can get a little closer to the sea and, of course, go for a dip! Given this, another interesting excursion at this time of the year could be snorkeling and diving. The coves are beautiful from the outside, but also wonderful on the inside! Cala Moraig, Cala dels Testos, Cala Llebeig… travel deep into the depths of the Mediterranean!

However, if you are looking for a calmer pace and a plan that’s suitable for relaxation, the Costa Blanca also has a spot for you. And there is nothing like the sea to disconnect from everything. One of the positive aspects of living at Residential Resort Cumbre del Sol throughout the year is being able to enjoy all its surroundings at a time while tourism isn’t at its highest.

As you have seen, there are many options to enjoy this time of the year at Residential Resort Cumbre del Sol. And, as Antonio Machado said, another year: “Spring has come. No one knows how.”

Solidarity in Times of Crisis

Solidarity in Times of Crisis

It has not been an easy year for anyone. Starting with the health sector, various sectors have seen their activity reduced or interrupted. This was true for the cleaning, transport, food and hospitality sectors.

The latter has had great difficulty in recent months in resuming its activity and making it profitable and comparable to the rhythm of work prior to the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. On-site consumption in bars, restaurants and other catering establishments has clearly been affected by the health situation. There have been many weeks in which opening the doors was not an option.

Fortunately, and as a response to this unviable situation, businesses have been able to adapt and find other ways to offer their services and continue working, always respecting health and safety measures. In this sense, take-out has kept many businesses going.

But in this equation, businesses can’t make it happen without customers. Therefore, as a supportive initiative and to encourage the purchase of takeaway, many town councils have distributed information about the bars and restaurants that offer a take-out option to residents.

This is the case for Poble Nou de Benitatxell, where the Residential Resort Cumbre del Sol is located. Here, the council has distributed a leaflet with contact information for those establishments with takeaway service. In fact, one of them is Como en casa, the Mediterranean cuisine restaurant in our Sports Area.

In Benissa, where our Galeno Villas development is located, the town hall has also made a compilation with all the restaurants and bars that offer meals for pick up at the establishment or home delivery by appointment. In this case, the offer is very varied: from tapas restaurants to pizzerias, being supportive has never been so easy!

And there’s more: Teulada Moraira town council has also joined this supportive network by giving its bars and restaurants the opportunity to advertise on its website, as well as offering their residents information about it. The initiative, called ‘ Teulada Moraira at your table’, brings together all the information on cuisine options that Teulada Moraira residents can enjoy from their homes.

Workout at home

Beyond gastronomy and, as resident, being able to help the hotel and catering sector, there are also other initiatives in which we can collaborate during the pandemic.

One of them is sport. Have you also joined the fitness movement that got underway during the State of Alarm? Many people started to exercise at home accompanied by professionals on the screen. In Benissa, they have set up their own online classes! The municipal swimming pool offers total training, GAP, bodypower, hiit… there’s no excuse not to get fit!

There’s less and less time now before restrictions become a thing of the past. But in the meantime, as we have discussed, there are many ways to be supportive and help ease the burden for those who are having a harder time now… You can also check our blog regularly and follow us on Facebook and Instagram to find out all about the initiatives being launched near you. Every little bit counts, are you ready to help?

Enjoy the Area’s Best Cuisine Without Leaving Home

Enjoy the Area’s Best Cuisine Without Leaving Home

One of the best features of this small corner along the Mediterranean coast is undoubtedly its delicious gastronomy. And you know what the best thing is? You can enjoy it without having to leave your home at Residential Resort Cumbre del Sol. Take note!

If you are a cook, we’ll tell you about a couple of recipes from the local gastronomy so you can enjoy all the flavours of the Mediterranean! The key is to always choose the best raw materials on the market. Some time ago we told you about some typical Benitatxell dishes and we also shared some of the area’s recipes with you. Today we want to introduce you to some more in detail so you can make them at home.

As for the main cuisine, we tell you how to prepare a tuna belly ratatouille, also known in the area as Mullador de Bull. To make the recipe for 4 people you will need a large piece of dried tuna belly, 2 onions, 4 tomatoes, olive oil and sweet paprika. The preparation is quite simple. Desalt the tuna belly by soaking it for three hours. Then, cut it into small pieces. Cut the vegetables in the same way after peeling them. Sauté everything in a pot with hot oil and let it simmer for 30 minutes. And that delicious ratatouille is ready!

And for dessert, we offer step-by-step instructions on how to make something as sweet and typical as pumpkin fritters, a delicious dish to continue our gastronomic journey! For 4 people you will need half a kilo of pumpkin, 50 grams of baker’s yeast, 200 grams of flour, sugar to taste and sunflower oil. The first step is to peel the pumpkin and boil it in water. Then mash it by adding both the flour and the yeast. The latter must be put in lukewarm water until it is slightly undone. Let the mixture stand for at least one hour. Then, in a pot or pan with the oil already hot, add small portions of the dough in the shape of fritters. Once they are fried, remove them from the heat and dip them in sugar, and enjoy this explosion of flavour for your palate!

Both of these recipes provide a burst of new flavors. However, whether you like cooking or not, it is also a good time to help the catering industry! One way to do this is to order take-out or have it delivered so you can enjoy it from the comfort of your own home. At Antiquary, you can enjoy freshly made pizzas and delicious pasta. Lovers of oriental food will be delighted with the taste of Beniasia’s dishes. You can also order food at El raconet de Celeste. And if you are looking for homemade food, there’s nothing like ordering at Como en casa. You can find all the info about the establishments here.

As you can see, there are many ways to enjoy the delicious gastronomy of the area without leaving your home at Residential Resort Cumbre del Sol. We hope you have enjoyed this delicious trip!
