Today, the Poble Nou de Benitachell Town Hall has informed us about the return of the Benitachell Valencian Pilota Club to the competition in the provincial Valencian pilota league, in the hand palm category.

The Poble Nou Valencian Pilota Club is now again a reality. After approx. 10 years out of the field, the club has returned. It started as a team in the pilota provincial league organized by the Alicante Council and the Valencian Pilota Federation, since 20 years ago. (more…)

From 15th to 30th January, the most important traditional fair in Benissa will take place: Fira y Porrat Sant Antoni 2011, with entertaining activities and events.

Pilota valenciana matches in Benissa’s Trinquet –pilota court- on 15th, 16th, 22nd, 23rd, 29th and 30th, with amateur singles and professional leagues.

Popular films screenings Saturdays and Sundays: “Entre Lobos” –Spanish movie-, “Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of Dawn Treader” and “Tre metri sopra il cielo”.

Fiestas in Teulada with traditional Valencian region music

The weekend of the 18th and 19th of September, Teulada celebrates its “Divina Pastora” fiestas, a traditional local fiesta that they stopped celebrating and that “Colla El Falçó” Association of  rustic flute and small drum players has recovered and has been celebrating for several years in order to encourage and promote Valencian and popular music and transmit the cultural identity of the town.

On Saturday 18th of September those that visit Teulada can enjoy a game of “pilota valenciana” (a Valencian region ball game) on De Dalt Street, a tune played by street musicians Colla El Falçó at 7pm in the historic heart of Teulada and a popular evening dinner and “Cantada a la Fresca” traditional songs sung on the street.
