Mediterranean Nights: Open-Air Concerts and More in Alicante

Mediterranean Nights: Open-Air Concerts and More in Alicante

Looking for the best way to end the summer season? Then search no more, because Mediterranean Nights, a series of open-air concerts held in Alicante´s Port, is the perfect plan for you! The event started on August 22nd and will continue until September 26th. It’s an ideal option for a little vacation without moving too far from Residential Resort Cumbre del Sol.

As a resident of Cumbre del Sol, you know that Alicante is synonymous with good weather, stunning beaches and unparalleled cuisine. And this event is a clear example of all those qualities. From 8:00 pm to 1:00 am, you can enjoy the guest artist of the night and also make a visit to the Gastro Club to try some of the local delicacies on offer at the different stands.

As we’ve said, at the Gastro Club you will find an endless number of local dishes, but it also has four bars and different areas with sofas, tables and even hammocks for you to enjoy with your group of friends or family. What better way to spend a pleasant Alicante night than watching the sunset by the sea with a drink in hand, surrounded by good company, and all this before the music has even started!

The night’s live performance starts at 10pm, so you’ll have plenty of time to savour the delights of the Gastro Club before heading to the stage area. The list of artists is very varied in terms of genre and ranges from the famous violinist Ara Malikian to internationally known bands such as Dorian. We assure you that you will find a concert to suit your musical tastes! Another artist who stands out is Natalia Lacunza, known for her performance on Operación Triunfo. Be sure to buy your tickets online before you head over, so you don’t miss any of the musical events, such as Manel and Revolver.

It is important to note that the venue complies with all the recommendations and protocols announced by the health authorities. Mask use is compulsory at all times, the common areas have been adapted so that there is a distance of 1.5 metres between groups of people and seats and you will find dispensers with hand disinfectant at strategic points throughout the venue. With all these security measures, you’ll be sure to have fun while staying safe.

We recommend you don’t miss any of the articles in our blog and that you follow us on our social networks to keep up to date with all the activities and events around Cumbre del Sol.

The Best Wine Pairings for your Favourite Mediterranean Dishes

The Best Wine Pairings for your Favourite Mediterranean Dishes

After so much time at home, we’re sure most of you have started to experiment in the kitchen and some are even on your way to becoming amateur chefs. Previously, we  gave a few suggestions of dishes to try at home that are full of Mediterranean flavour. Now that you’re an expert on cooking the crowned jewels of Spanish cuisine, it’s time you learn which regional wines pair best with each dish. Alicante, aside from being known for its beautiful crystalline beaches and amazing weather, is also famous for having a renowned wine culture that bears fruit to absolute delicacies.

Perhaps the most famous regional wine is the Muscatel white wine, made entirely from the Alejandría muscatel grape. These grapes are characteristic to the Marina Alta region and give the wine its strong and elegant aroma. It’s only fitting that wines from this region pair beautifully with seafood and rice dishes. We recommend you try the award-winning Marina Alta from the Bocopa winery with a plate of arròs a banda or paella.

Merseguera wine is another, albeit lesser-known, white wine from Valencia and Alicante.  This wine is made from a very sustainable variety of grapes of the same name, and is usually only available in Spain. We recommend you try Rascaña, made by the Baldover 923 winery in Valencia. This wine has received high ratings from important wine critics thanks to its citrus notes that are so characteristic of the region it comes from. It pairs great with arroz negro or fideuá.

For those who prefer red wine, we suggest Monastrell wines. This wine is known around the world by its French name, Mourvedre, which derives from the Valencian town Morvedre. The grape variety used in its production dates back to fifteenth-century Valencia and its taste varies depending on the area it is grown. The Monastrell from Alicante is especially renown thanks to its unmatched freshness. We recommend Tarima, made by the Volver winery. This wine has won several awards and pairs well with barbecue, perfect with the warm weather that’s fast approaching.

The Monastrell grape is also used to make Fondillon, a special style of wine made only in Alicante and only from this grape. It also has a higher alcohol level in comparison to other wines. Another unique characteristic is that it’s sold solely after being aged for a minimum of 10 years, giving it its distinctive and bold flavour, making it the perfect choice to end any meal. Fondillon’s rich and oaky body has caramel and honey notes which pair beautifully with any dessert. Don’t miss out on trying this wine’s sophisticated and traditional taste.

These are only some of the gastronomic gems Alicante has to offer. There’s no better pairing to wine than sunshine, beaches and absolute relaxation – which is why your home at Residential Resort Cumbre del Sol is the best place to enjoy a glass of any one of these wines. The best photos you can take at Cumbre del Sol

The best photos you can take at Cumbre del Sol

There are two types of tourists: those who stroll and take in the surroundings, and then there’s those who go camera in hand, trying to find the best views for the perfect snapshot. The latter proudly share these moments with their friends and family on social media or keep the memories in a scrapbook to always remember. If you are a nostalgic person who loves to reminisce over photographs collected from all of your travels, we recommend you start viewing the Costa Blanca through the eyes of a tourist. Enjoy its dreamlike landscapes, there’s something for everyone: from beaches and coastal towns full of small white houses to heart-stopping skyscrapers and medieval castles with so much history. Get a pen and paper and write down all the exceptional spots just a few minutes away from your new home at Residential Resort Cumbre del Sol.

  • Cala del Moraig: You’ll find this wonderful cove at the foot of Cumbre del Sol, where we host many of our events throughout the year. Besides the beach, you can’t miss out on the Cova del Arcs, where you can take a breathtaking photo of the sea framed by the rocks.

  • Granadella natural park: 750 hectares just a few meters away from your home, this natural park is the perfect harmony of flora and fauna. It is an idyllic setting, with cliffs that have the most beautiful views of Mediterranean landscapes. See the blue of the ocean contrasting against the greenery of the land. You’ll find seabirds and birds of prey among its wildlife, as well as boars and foxes. In addition to all of this, you’ll also be able to capture traditional architectural structures like caves that were once used as a refuge, lime kilns, and ochre mines.
  • It’s all about the sea and lighthouses: The lighthouse in Denia is famous for its beauty. Its blue and white hues match its surroundings perfectly: the sea and the sky. And if we’re talking about lighthouses, then the one in Santa Pola is without a doubt one of the most visited ones in the province. It usually isn’t the focus of the photograph though, instead, sea views from its walkway is featured all over social media. Incidentally, if you’re visiting Santa Pola, then you can’t forget to go to Las Salinas, where there are real flamingos to catch on film.
  • The most modern and special architecture: The geometric and colourful La Muralla Roja in Calpe has been featured in many ad campaigns from internationally renowned brands, which is why you can’t miss out on having a snapshot of those pink walls in your collection. Your collection also needs to have photos of Benidorm’s highest skyscrapers. A piece of advice? The Cross lookout (el mirador La Cruz) is the best spot to capture the entire coast and the city’s most spectacular buildings according to photography-lovers.

  • Picturesque houses: Do you love bold colours or do you gravitate towards neutral tones? Either way, the multicoloured houses in Villajoyosa and Altea’s old town full of white-washed homes at the highest point of the city should definitely be in your film roll.
  • So much history: If the walls of Santa Barbara’s castle could talk… This fortress is both the star of many photographs and a star location to take photos of Alicante from great heights.
  • Your terrace: And why not? Wake up early and make the most of the sunrise; step out onto your terrace and take a photo of the view. Why not shoot a time-lapse too?

As you can tell, you live in an authentic paradise, surrounded by special landscapes which leave you no excuse to not take out your camera and take the best photos. Remember, our blog and our social media will keep you informed on all the novelties at Residential Resort Cumbre del Sol. Don’t forget to follow us!

Enjoy a memorable Christmas on the Spanish Costa Blanca

Enjoy a memorable Christmas on the Spanish Costa Blanca

The Costa Blanca is a wonderful place due to its excellent weather and lovely little towns that are spread throughout the whole area. Benitatxell, being one of those towns, is where you’ll find Residential Resort Cumbre del Sol, home to our best apartment and luxury villa developments. Furthermore, during this season, the landscape transforms to make way for autumn postcards and offers a very special Christmas under the sun and next to the sea. Sometimes it’s hard to believe that it’s wintertime here, as the temperatures are so mild and the weather is spectacular, but little by little, the Christmas spirit is sweeping over the region. In fact, we’ve decorated different places at Cumbre del Sol and the residents have decorated their homes to welcome the holidays.

Besides Cumbre del Sol, all the towns and cities that are close by also organise numerous events to celebrate Christmas. This is the case for Benissa that inaugurated their nativity scene on the 1st of December. Music, films, workshops, and a Christmas market…Benissa has everything that you could need to spend a magical time with your family and friends, and just like in years past, the Three Kings will arrive to the city on January 5th to hand out gifts.

Benitatxell is no exception, as they have organised a Christmas market on the 15th of December with food stalls, clothes, arts and crafts, a gymkhana, and the famous “Burreta de Nadal” or Christmas donkey. In addition, children between the ages of 3 and 12 have until December 18th to enrol in Christmas school and do crafts, sports, traditional games and Christmas activities with other children on the 23, 24, 27, 30 and 31st of December and 2nd and 3rd January from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm. We’ll give you a preview of the whole schedule for the month of December, as on the 24th, Santa Claus will visit the city with a parade starting at 5:00 pm. The youngest ones can watch a film in the social centre on Thursday, the 26th at 6:30 p.m., listen to Christmas carols on the 27th at the church or even watch a puppet show on the 28th at 12:00 pm. We can also tell you that the first week of January will be full of fun Christmas events: a visit from the Three Kings’ messenger (January 2nd), a children’s theatre, Christmas park with blow-ups, face painting and much more (January 4th). Don’t forget the traditional Three Wise Men parade and the distribution of gifts (January 5th at 6:30 pm).

To the south, you’ll find the town of Teulada-Moraira, also close to Cumbre del Sol. After the Teulada English Choir’s Christmas concert on December 6th, the city will be totally immersed in music as the AMCT invites you to attend its Christmas concert scheduled for December 20th in the Santa Catalina church in Teulada. In addition, the Teulada-Moraira Auditorium offers you an exception program during the holidays with a performance of Swan Lake by the Moscow Ballet and they UCAM Symphony Orchestra on December 21st, and the Christmas concert by Alicante’s Youth Orchestra (OJPA) on December 28th. On December 22nd, the city will have a typical Christmas market on Avenida Santa Catalina and the Town hall Plaza, Plaza del Ayuntamiento, in Teulada with local artisanal products. You can also continue until you reach Altea where you’ll find an ice-skating rink, rides, and games that await you in the Plaça del Nadal.

If you’d like to live a different and unique experience, then we recommend visiting the Baleária Port in Dénia. The city has everything up and ready for Christmas, in fact they turned on the lights and kicked off the holiday season on November 30th. Both adults and the younger ones can enjoy the ice-skating rink (until January 6th) and inflatable castles (until January 4th). In addition, the Jauja Port will host a concert by Valencia’s Higher Conservatory Orchestra, magician, Hugo Arcil, will surprise everyone with his tricks on the 23rd, and the children’s show “El Mundo de Drilo,” will take place on December 30th.

Lastly, you can take advantage of Christmas to visit Valencia or Alicante. Cumbre del Sol is conveniently located halfway between the two cities, both offering a multitude of activities throughout the month of December and early January: lights, a Christmas market, Santa Claus’ house, ice skating rinks, slides, a fair, and the Cavalcade of Magi (Three Kings Parade).

The best time of the year begins now and VAPF wants to make sure that you enjoy it to the fullest. Let yourself be swept away by the Christmas spirit and discover everything that’s been organised in the surrounding area to make these holidays exceptional. As for us, we invite you to unleash your creative side by decorating your home and we remind you that the best way to find out about the events we organise is by following us on our Facebook page.
