More than 300 players participated in the three sports at Javea’s Tennis Club Open (tennis, padel and squash), with the support of the Tennis Academy of David Ferrer.
The area’s famous tournament, which has been held since 1971, brought the participants together from the 13th to the 25th of August for two weeks in which racket sport lovers were able to enjoy these sports at the club.
Young players were able to join the “alevín” and “infantil” categories in all three sports, while in tennis the “cadete” category could also join in. For adults, on the other hand, there were different levels depending on their choice of tennis, padel or squash, and they whether they wanted to play singles, doubles, or mixed doubles.
Javea’s Tennis Club Open
VAPF supported this tournament as a special sponsor for the second consecutive year and handed out the prizes to all the winners of each tennis category. The children received a Nike backpack and a VAPF Group cap, while the adults, in addition to the VAPF cap, got a voucher to enjoy a dinner for two at La Cumbre Restaurant.
As a gift for the support that VAPF has given to the Open, the Tennis Academy of David Ferrer will award VAPF with a Babolat racket signed by this famous tennis player from Javea. which we will receive when David Ferrer returns to his hometown after the end of his sports season.
Once the tournament concluded, all participants and attendees enjoyed a party. On Sunday 19th, after the children’s trophies were handed out, the young players celebrated the end of the tournament with a pool party with inflatables and snacks from 4:00 pm.
Finally, the adults’ celebration was held on Saturday 25th.After the formal ceremony for the winners, the garden party began, accompanied by cocktails, mojitos, good music and appetisers for all those who attended.
The atmosphere is perfect for all types of audiences as, depending on the day, you can listen to one type of music or another. All ages have their place in this magical cove: from family days where couples with children can enjoy hits from the 70s and 80s, to DJ sessions perfectly perfect for a younger audience.
While on Thursdays there’s rock, on Fridays you can groove to the sound of Spanish Pop music, and on Sundays, the beach is taken over by rumba music.
In addition to these music genres, on Saturday evenings, electronic sessions with DJs are scheduled from 5:30 pm to 8 pm. If Latin music is your thing, take note! Two Tuesdays a month, the Cala Moraig beahc bar dances to the rhythm of the best Latin sounds. The artists who lead these performances are from towns in the area, such as Benitachell and Denia.
For three years, the Cala del Moraig beach bar has turned summer nights into unique experiences during which its wonderful location can be enjoyed to the fullest. We’ve already told you about the truly exquisite creations which come from its kitchen, so how about enjoying a delicious rice dish and relaxing in the cove until the music begins in the Chiringuito?
So, now you know how to make the most of the evenings this summer! Live music is only on at the Cala Moraig beach bar throughout July and August, so this opportunity won’t come again until next year. What are you waiting for?
This was the second edition of an event which is destined to become part of the calendar of activities at Cumbre del Sol. In August last year, the first edition was a complete success.
The cars arrived at Restaurant La Cumbre at around 8pm. All those who had come to Cumbre del Sol had the chance to see some classic cars which have become real relics. The evening was brought to an end with a special meal for the occasion, attended by members of the Marina Alta Classic Car Club and neighbours of the Cumbre del Sol Residential Resort.
Marina Alta Classic Car Club was born in 2000. Since then, it has become the most popular in the region and is known internationally. The club has around 100 members who enjoy monthly rallies, two events in spring, four events in autumn, and many others.
In addition, since 2017 the club has provided support for vulnerable people in the area. That’s why the money they obtained from the prize draw, provided by VAPF, was donated to the Breast Cancer Association in Javea. The prize draw was attended by VAPF Commercial Director Vicente Mestre, and President of the Marina Alta Classic Car Club Peter Alt. We hope to count on the collaboration of the club and its Rally next year!
We are celebrating! Cala del Moraig, the wonderful cove inCumbre del Sol, has earned one of the 696 Blue Flags that have been awarded to Spanish beaches this summer. The Blue Flag is an award given annually by the European Foundation for Environmental Education to beaches and marinas which meet its environmental and operational standards. This year, the Valencian Community has been awarded the most flags with a total of 146, and Alicante province achieved the top spot with 68 beaches receiving this seal of approval.
At the foot of Cumbre del Sol, protected by cliffs that are over 100 metres tall, is Cala del Moraig. This unique natural setting can be accessed along the General Playa road, signposted from the entrance of Cumbre del Sol. Its crystal-clear, deep blue waters stand out for their cleanliness and high quality, making this an ideal place to swim. The 250-metre stretch of beach is covered by pebbles and sand, and surrounded by unparalleled natural beauty.
One of the many attractions of Cala del Moraig are water sports such as sailing, snorkelling, and scuba diving, which attract many visitors to its shores every day. It’s an ideal place to discover the marine nature and underwater life of the Costa Blanca and is surrounded by unique hiking trails which offer walkers the chance to visit natural caves, and lead to other nearby coves.
It’s not just the area’s natural beauty and high-quality waters that have earned Cala del Moraig its Blue Flag, it’s also the first-class services offered here. The cove has a lifeguard, a car park, a cleaning service, and Pedalo hire to ensure a fun day for adults and children on one of the best beaches on the Costa Blanca.
The terrain in Benitatxell is made of limestone which has been shaped into cavities and beautiful geological formations. One of these is the “Cova dels Arcs”, a natural wonder and gateway to the underwater route at Cala del Moraig. “Cova dels Arcs” is a chamber formed by three natural arches and is the outlet of an underwater river, perfect for scuba divers and speleologists. Up to 1000 metres of underwater tunnels have been discovered, going to a depth of 62 metres. Through them, the underground river Riu Blanc runs into the sea.
Cala del Moraig is not the only cove in the area: very close by we also find the Cala dels Testos and Cala Llebeig, small bays hidden away at the foot of the “Morro Falquí” cliffs, which can be accessed along a trail or by sea. The beaches near Cumbre del Sol are a true paradise on the coast, perfect for enjoying the Costa Blanca’s warm weather and the crystal-clear waters of the Mediterranean Sea.
At Cumbre del Sol, you will have these Mediterranean coves on your doorstep. Cala del Moraig, with its Blue Flag, is the closest to the residential resort and so for us, the most special. Enjoy each stroll along the shore and every swim in the sea knowing that it’s a truly unique place!
