The best photos you can take at Cumbre del Sol

The best photos you can take at Cumbre del Sol

There are two types of tourists: those who stroll and take in the surroundings, and then there’s those who go camera in hand, trying to find the best views for the perfect snapshot. The latter proudly share these moments with their friends and family on social media or keep the memories in a scrapbook to always remember. If you are a nostalgic person who loves to reminisce over photographs collected from all of your travels, we recommend you start viewing the Costa Blanca through the eyes of a tourist. Enjoy its dreamlike landscapes, there’s something for everyone: from beaches and coastal towns full of small white houses to heart-stopping skyscrapers and medieval castles with so much history. Get a pen and paper and write down all the exceptional spots just a few minutes away from your new home at Residential Resort Cumbre del Sol.

  • Cala del Moraig: You’ll find this wonderful cove at the foot of Cumbre del Sol, where we host many of our events throughout the year. Besides the beach, you can’t miss out on the Cova del Arcs, where you can take a breathtaking photo of the sea framed by the rocks.

  • Granadella natural park: 750 hectares just a few meters away from your home, this natural park is the perfect harmony of flora and fauna. It is an idyllic setting, with cliffs that have the most beautiful views of Mediterranean landscapes. See the blue of the ocean contrasting against the greenery of the land. You’ll find seabirds and birds of prey among its wildlife, as well as boars and foxes. In addition to all of this, you’ll also be able to capture traditional architectural structures like caves that were once used as a refuge, lime kilns, and ochre mines.
  • It’s all about the sea and lighthouses: The lighthouse in Denia is famous for its beauty. Its blue and white hues match its surroundings perfectly: the sea and the sky. And if we’re talking about lighthouses, then the one in Santa Pola is without a doubt one of the most visited ones in the province. It usually isn’t the focus of the photograph though, instead, sea views from its walkway is featured all over social media. Incidentally, if you’re visiting Santa Pola, then you can’t forget to go to Las Salinas, where there are real flamingos to catch on film.
  • The most modern and special architecture: The geometric and colourful La Muralla Roja in Calpe has been featured in many ad campaigns from internationally renowned brands, which is why you can’t miss out on having a snapshot of those pink walls in your collection. Your collection also needs to have photos of Benidorm’s highest skyscrapers. A piece of advice? The Cross lookout (el mirador La Cruz) is the best spot to capture the entire coast and the city’s most spectacular buildings according to photography-lovers.

  • Picturesque houses: Do you love bold colours or do you gravitate towards neutral tones? Either way, the multicoloured houses in Villajoyosa and Altea’s old town full of white-washed homes at the highest point of the city should definitely be in your film roll.
  • So much history: If the walls of Santa Barbara’s castle could talk… This fortress is both the star of many photographs and a star location to take photos of Alicante from great heights.
  • Your terrace: And why not? Wake up early and make the most of the sunrise; step out onto your terrace and take a photo of the view. Why not shoot a time-lapse too?

As you can tell, you live in an authentic paradise, surrounded by special landscapes which leave you no excuse to not take out your camera and take the best photos. Two new Michelin stars close to Cumbre del Sol Residential Resort!

Two new Michelin stars close to Cumbre del Sol Residential Resort!

Aside from offering us the nutrients we need to ensure that our bodies function as they should, food for many is a true pleasure. With the help of some, it can almost be a work of art!

The Mediterranean coastline has always been recognised for its cooking and the quality of its produce, but this time it has gone one step further. The 2019 Michelin Guide has now announced the restaurants which will have a new star next year, and several are close to Cumbre del Sol Residential Resort!

The city of Calpe, half an hour away from us, has become a great culinary destination. The influence of the Mediterranean diet, and the creation of restaurants which continually reinvent themselves, has led to it gaining two new stars. This makes a total of three Michelin stars in the city, if we count the one earned last year by the restaurant Audrey’s led by Rafa Soler.

Beat is one of the establishments to have earned a new Michelin Star. This restaurant is found within The Cookbook, a boutique hotel focused on transcendental culinary experiences. The chef is José Manuel Miguel, who during his stay in France spent time working in two one-Michelin-starred restaurants: Il Vino and Goust. Beat offers us “a journey through the sea and the land where flavours, colours, and aromas flow and merge together, creating emotions”.

The other establishment to have achieved a Michelin Star is the restaurant Orobianco located in Colina Home Resort, a comfortable resort with spectacular views of the Peñon de Ifach. The creative mind of Italian Enrico Croatti surprises every palate with haute cuisine and his unrivalled signature style in this fabulous restaurant.

These two new Michelin Stars join the three at Quique Dacosta en Denia, the two at Bon Amb in Javea (very close to Cumbre del Sol Residential Resort) and the one at Casa Pepa in Ondara. All this means that those who live in Cumbre del Sol Residential Resort can enjoy typical Mediterranean cuisine and that even the most discerning palates have their place. Cumbre del Sol Residential Resort is an experience for all five senses!

Three cities to visit close to Cumbre del Sol (I): Denia, Calpe, and Altea

Three cities to visit close to Cumbre del Sol (I): Denia, Calpe, and Altea

We know that giving in to the charms of the Cumbre del Sol Residential Resort is an easy task. It is situated in an exceptional location: in the heart of the Sierra de la Llorença, just 1.5km from the sea and close to wonderful beaches and coves such as Moraig and Tiestos.

As well as its location in a paradise spot in the province of Alicante, it is also close to cities which have much to offer visitors. Around an hour from the Cumbre del Sol Residential Resort there are charming towns on the Mediterranean coast which enjoy the sunny climate 365 days a year. Today we’ll tell you all about what you can do in three of these cities: Denia, Calpe, and Altea.

Denia: a blue horizon and the best gastronomy

There is only one thing that shines brighter than the sun in Denia: the culinary creations. Since 2015, Denia has belonged to the Creative Cities of Gastronomy, a distinction UNESCO awards to those places which are dedicated to developing and exchanging innovative practices which promote the creative industries. In Spain, only Burgos and Denia have been awarded this recognition!

So, what creations can we sample in Denia? As we’re in the land of rice dishes, don’t miss the opportunity to taste the delicious arroz a banda. Denia’s fishing traditions and proximity to the sea make it the home of delicious seafood dishes: the famous red prawn, llandeta (a dish which mixes different types of fish with potato), suquet de peix (fish and shellfish cooked with suquet sauce), dried octopus, sea urchins… and the best thing is that there are around 300 restaurants in the city from which to choose your favourite.

Then, the marina hides even more surprises in this city. The first of these is the possibility to hire a boat to sail around the city and enjoy some magnificent views of the Macizo del Montgo Natural Park or the Cabo de San Antonio. Or, if you prefer, you can catch a ferry to reach special Mediterranean locations such as Formentera and Ibiza in just over two hours.

Calpe: against the backdrop of the Peñón de Ifach

Without doubt, one of the most well-known panoramic views in the Community of Valencia is in Calpe, with the Peñón de Ifach. Named a natural park over 30 years ago, reaching the peak can take around an hour, even on routes of moderate difficulty. Don’t forget to wear shoes which are comfortable and will help you to maintain your balance!

However, the adventure in Peñón de Ifach goes even further: there are around 43 routes, of varying difficulties, from which to choose the one you like best. In April, May, and June, climbing is not advisable due to nest building. It’s much better to enjoy this place in months such as September, when the temperatures are more stable.

There are infinite locations from which to enjoy the panoramic views of the Peñón de Ifach. However, if you would prefer to admire them while enjoying some sport, there is the Ifach Golf Club, one of the first golf courses in the Community of Valencia. Its location in between hills will provide you with some spectacular views of the Mediterranean and the imposing outline of the Peñón de Ifach. A luxury location to tee off in!

Calpe, like the other cities along the Mediterranean coastline, encompasses what it is to live close to the sea. A top fishing location, it is also a great choice for those who love regattas: the classic Calpe-Formentera-Calpe has been held here at the end of May/beginning of June for over three decades. This event, organised by the Calpe Royal Yacht Club, remains faithful to its family roots despite the recognition it has obtained after 30 years.

Altea: an old town to discover on foot

One of the pearls of the Costa Blanca is Altea. As the years have gone by, it has maintained its essence without losing even an ounce of it. We could write pages and pages about the beauty of its old town, which is a true icon in the Mediterranean. Our recommendation would be to visit in the evening, when its many charms are amplified: the cobbles, the white houses, and the dome on the church of Nuestra Señora del Consuelo take on a magical dimension.

Though the old town is the main reason which brings visitors to this Mediterranean location, Altea’s marinas also attract both experts and beginners in water sports and sailing. It doesn’t matter which you prefer: kayaking, rowing, canoeing, sailing, or snorkelling – there is room for all of them here! Altea’s crystal-clear waters are home to three marinas: Marina Greenwich, Altea Sailing Club, and Porto Senso Marina. So, how about spending a day out on the sea?

These are just three cities you will have within an hour from you at the Cumbre del Sol Residential Resort. Keep an eye on our blog to find out about more locations close to our luxury houses! Or, if you prefer, you can contact us here and begin your new life by the sea! We hope to hear from you!
