2nd Classic Car Rally in Cumbre del Sol

2nd Classic Car Rally in Cumbre del Sol

Classic car lovers were in luck! On Sunday 29th July, the Marina Alta Classic Car Club held its second rally in the Cumbre del Sol Residential Resort. In addition to the club members, all were welcome to come along with their classic car and enjoy the event.

This was the second edition of an event which is destined to become part of the calendar of activities at Cumbre del Sol. In August last year, the first edition was a complete success.

The cars arrived at Restaurant La Cumbre at around 8pm. All those who had come to Cumbre del Sol had the chance to see some classic cars which have become real relics. The evening was brought to an end with a special meal for the occasion, attended by members of the Marina Alta Classic Car Club and neighbours of the Cumbre del Sol Residential Resort.

Marina Alta Classic Car Club was born in 2000. Since then, it has become the most popular in the region and is known internationally. The club has around 100 members who enjoy monthly rallies, two events in spring, four events in autumn, and many others.

In addition, since 2017 the club has provided support for vulnerable people in the area. That’s why the money they obtained from the prize draw, provided by VAPF, was donated to the Breast Cancer Association in Javea. The prize draw was attended by VAPF Commercial Director Vicente Mestre, and President of the Marina Alta Classic Car Club Peter Alt. We hope to count on the collaboration of the club and its Rally next year!

Belgian National Day in Cumbre del Sol

Belgian National Day in Cumbre del Sol

Since the first Belgian King, Leopold I, swore allegiance to the Constitution on the 21st July 1831, Belgium has celebrated its national holiday on this date. For the second year in a row, here at VAPF we have celebrated this special occasion in the La Cumbre Restaurant with all our neighbours in the Cumbre del Sol Residential Resort.

This year, close to 200 people, among them many Belgian nationals who live in the area, came together in the magnificent location that is the La Cumbre Restaurant to enjoy a magical evening. The views of the sea and sunset helped to make this celebration of Belgian National Day a truly unforgettable experience.

To continue the celebrations, there was a prize draw. The Pepe la Sal supermarket contributed a pack of wines, Chiringuito Cala Moraig and the La Cumbre Restaurant offered a lunch or dinner for two, and Casa Vicente gave away a discount. There were also a lucky few who were given an invitation for the Belgian National Day celebrations in 2019 in Cumbre del Sol, and those who will be able to enjoy a lesson with David Ferrer or received his racket.

The attendees at this event enjoyed a menu which included a cocktail on the terrace along with delights such as smoked salmon mousse, breaded camembert with tomato jam, and breaded prawns with Pedro Ximénez sauce, among other delicious choices.

After the cocktails came the main dishes. A salmon tartare marinated with apple and avocado followed by beef entrecote with Spanish sauce, roast potatoes, and vegetables. Lastly, a Sachertorte with vanilla ice cream brought the meal to an end.

The party after the dinner was the perfect end to an evening of emotion and gifts. The music and a lively photocall, in which participants were able to enjoy some entertaining moments, ensured that everyone went home with a smile on their face, looking forward to celebrating again next year.

During the summer months, Benitatxell offers a wide variety of activities: both cultural and related to nature. Firstly, in July and August, you can go on a guided walk: one full tour on which you’ll be able to learn about the history of the area, which takes place on Thursdays and Saturdays at 9am; or another, which runs along the cliff, on Friday afternoons. Both routes are two and a half hours long.

Secondly, in Benitatxell, every Wednesday in August there will be a cinema screening in the Plaza de la Iglesia at 10pm: see the schedule here.

For wine lovers, there’s the unique experience of collecting Muscat grapes with your own hands while observing the sunset from the vineyards, before bringing the day to an end with a delicious al fresco dinner made using products from this region. These routes take place in English, Spanish, and Valencian.

If you’re a fan of the sea, don’t miss the 23rd Open Water Swim in the Puerto de Moraira on the 29th July. You can either take part or simply enjoy the swim as a spectator: it starts at the El Portet beach at 9:30am, with different categories from Youth to Master Plus.

In Moraira, from the 9th to the 12th August, there will also be a medieval market where you can find traditional and artisan products.

For those searching for a sports-related plan, in August there’s the tournament organised by the Javea Tennis Club, of which VAPF is a sponsor.

A unique event that’s full of light and colour is the Castell de l’Olla, a firework display which takes place on the 11th August in Altea. Enjoy the explosion of colour to the rhythm of the music and against the backdrop of the sea and night sky. This is a unique event which has been going on almost 30 years, becoming a tradition in the area.

Lastly, there are several events for you to enjoy in Cumbre del Sol: in July there’s the Belgian National Day on the 21st, and the Classic Car Rally on the 29th. See you there!

We celebrated the most magical night of the year in Cala del Moraig

We celebrated the most magical night of the year in Cala del Moraig

Last Saturday, we had the chance to experience the most magical night of the year at Chiringuito Cala de Moraig. Almost 100 neighbours came together to enjoy a spectacular dinner and dance at an event characterised by traditional rituals which leaves bad omens behind and attracts good luck.

In addition, to make this celebration an even more memorable event, Cala del Moraig turned white: a colour of good luck which made for some stylish, ethnic looks.

This magical night also coincides with the Pagan Summer Solstice festival, which is normally the shortest night of the year. From this date onwards, the days start to become shorter, and the nights longer.

As with any event, food became the star of the show thanks to a delicious dinner in the Chiringuito Cala de Moraig, with tasty starters which amazed attendees. When it came to the main course, both those who ordered fresh tuna with vegetables and those who ordered Iberian sirloin with mushroom sauce, were delighted. After dinner, there was a dance which ended with a toast at the end of the night.

Here at VAPF Group, as well as organising the event, we wanted to be present on such a special evening and celebrate with our neighbours in the Cumbre del Sol Residential Resort.

A touch of humour came from a fun photo session full of laughter thanks to some attention-grabbing accessories: hats, umbrellas, and masks which gave us some fun photos as a souvenir of the night.

We hope that we’ll be able to get together again to enjoy a magical Saint John’s Eve next year, and that this celebration will become a tradition for our community of neighbours.

VAPF Group’s commitment to Benitatxell Sports

VAPF Group’s commitment to Benitatxell Sports

At VAPF Group, we understand the importance of leading a healthy and balanced lifestyle, which is why we think it’s important to encourage sporting activities at any age, especially for children. Sport is not only a key factor for good health, it also helps with socialising and understanding values such as respect and perseverance.

At VAPF Group, to reinforce our support for sport, we’ve sponsored the sports equipment of the young gymnasts at the Sports Schools of Poble Nou de Benitatxell. The colours of the uniform are blue and yellow, which have a long local tradition and also those of the local football team in Benitatxell.

The official sportswear was handed over to the 153 boys and girls from the different clubs by local sports councillor Manolo Segarra, who had previously expressed his satisfaction with the uniform: “We hope the children feel motivated and wear it with pride at local competitions.”

Of these 153 members of the Sports Schools, many are enrolled in more than one sport. The activities they take part in are football, tennis, padel, rhythmic gymnastics, karate, swimming, and golf.

At VAPF Group, we believe that it is important to support and participate in the local community, and play a part in developing activities in El Poble Nou de Benitatxell. That’s why we believe that sponsoring this uniform is a show of our support for local sports.
