The Moraig Cove in Poble Nou de Benitatxell

With the arrival of April, the weather invites to go out and enjoy the fresh breeze and the warm sun. We thought it would be a good idea to share some information about one of the most beautiful hiking paths across Costa Blanca north: the “Ruta de los Acantilados” or cliffs’ path, starting on Cala Moraig cove and ending on Cala Llebeig cove, At Cumbre del Sol, in Poble Nou de Benitachell town.

This route takes about 2 hours to complete (1 hour back, 1 hour forth) and is considered to be of medium difficulty.

The route is east-oriented and therefore, sun rays are very intense during the morning. If you plan to cover this route in summertime, we recommend you to start it by the end of the afternoon or as soon as the sun comes up, spend the day at Llebeig cove and return when the path is shadowed.

The route starts near the slope down Cala Moraig cove. The starting point is signalled. To follow the path, go up the south wall that leads to the beach and keep walking following the directions and the excavations by a road that starts at the base of the hill. A few metres away, you will find Cueva de les Morretes a beautiful cave. From this point, you will be able to enjoy gorgeous views to Cala del Moraig and Cabo de la Nao cape in Jávea –or Xàbia.

We will continue our way south to punta de Moraira, walking the path by the cliff. The surroundings are filled with lush vegetation. The path ends in Cala de Llebeig, a place we recommend to bathe in after a tiresome journey.

Do not forget your cap and camera at home. You might regret it after sunburn and after missing the opportunity to make fantastic pictures of natural landscapes.
