Enric Valor

Enric Valor

The Public Library of Javea will hold an exhibition from 17th to 29th January, to commemorate the birth of Enric Valor.

This eminent man from Castalla -province of Alicante- dedicated a short period of his life to the shoe industry -a historically strong sector in the area. Then, in 1930, he started a cultural and literary career as a writer in an Alicante newspaper.

Enric Valor was a strong defender of the Valencian language. This firm republican intellectual never gave in any political pressures. Until the day he died, in 2000, Enric was a tenacious promoter of his cultural, linguistic and political ideas.

Many are his legacies to this region: there is the Enric Valor prize that recognizes young literature; many streets and squares are named after him, and he also left a prolific catalogue of works, including novels and rondallas.

You can visit the exhibition mornings from 09:00 h to 14:00 h and afternoons, from 16:00 h to 20:00 h.
