“Conoce el Montgó”, which in English would translate like “Get to know the Montgo” is a didactic program organised by the Montgo nature park. The dates of these free hiking tours for 2011 have already been set.
30th January: The route called “Asentamientos Íberos del Montgó” –Iberian Settlements in the Montgo- will start in the Xara train halt and continue through the Iberian settlements of Alto del Benimaquia, Coll de Pous and Pic de l’Aguila.
Difficulty: Medium. Distance: 9 Km. Time: 3 hours and a half.
27th March and 29th May: The route “La Umbría del Montgó” –Montgo’s shady side- will start in the Pare Pere hermitage chapel, walking up to Cova de l’Aigua and to Raco del Bou, across the shady side of the park.
Difficulty: Medium. Distance: 10 Km. Time: 3 hours.
June 26th: The route “Puerto de Dénia a Puerto de Xàbia” starts in “rotes de Denia”-the harbour- and ends in the harbour of Javea across the plains of Cabo de San Antonio. The hike will take you to visit many viewpoints like Torre de Gerro, Molins and the picnic area. You will be able to return by boat if you want to.
Difficulty: Medium. Distance: 8.5 Km. Time: 4 hours and a half.
September 27th: This is the date assigned for the route passing Jesús Pobre – Barranc de L’hedra- Cruz de Dénia. The group will make their way up to the cross of Denia through the “Barranc de l’Hedra” -gully of ivy- and will return via the relay station.
Difficulty: High. Distance: 14 Km. Time: 6 hours.
Each tour has capacity for only 20 people. Therefore, we recommend you to sign up as soon as possible. It is important to be properly equipped with the relevant gear and be physically fit enough to hike up the routes.
Being this an outdoors activity, the organisers reserve the right to move or cancel the excursions if the weather or environmental conditions do not allow the safe and satisfactory performance of the activity.
