Local Police traffic control

Local Police traffic control

Lately, many residents of Benitachell have reported reckless driving and speeding in residential areas.

In the first trimester of 2010, the Local Police carried out an educative campaign based on advice and communication with the citizens. It worked for some sectors of the population, but given the current situation, it didn’t prove totally successful.

For this second campaign, the Local Police will count on a disguised radar car lent by the Alicante Traffic Department. The operation will focus on the emission of tickets and the subtraction of driving license points -there are usually 12 points on a Spanish license and the total subtraction of points results on the prohibition to drive.

The campaign will last some months. Local authorities hope that these efforts result in improved security conditions in town for both drivers and pedestrians.

This is not the first road security campaign in the area. In August and for two and a half months, there was a vehicles documentation checking campaign. This translated into an increase of foreign vehicles registering in Spain.
