The Department of Communication and New Technologies of the City of Benitachell -led by Myra Van Hoff- launched a competition for the promotion of Benitachell during the Northern Costa Blanca stage of “La Vuelta” (Spanish Cycling Tour) that will run through local streets of San Antonio, Alicante and Mayor.
The initiative seeks to encourage the development of artistic and tourist projects or performances such as giant mosaic, promotional elements, street decoration, pennants, banners or paintings roofs in the public space in order to achieve greater media impact during this nationwide broadcasted event.
The contest is aimed to anyone aged from 18 years old, and can participate individually or forming teams. Proposals must be submitted in digital or printed format at city hall’s Department of Communication before 21 June. Each idea has to be presented in a sealed envelope with information identifying the author (full name, ID number and email address). This envelope will contain an explanatory memorandum of the proposed idea and a budget estimate, photographs, drawings, plans or any other material that illustrates the idea.
The jury will be composed of the Mayor, the Communication and New Technologies Councillor, artist Luis Montolio and journalist from the Department of Communication Empar Ferrer. The prize consists of a diploma and 200 euros to be handed at a public event broadcast by local media.
The jury will assess, among others, originality, creativity, sustainability, budget and material to be used.
