SVS and Sea Rescue team are conducting a drill next Sunday in Moraig Cove
This year’s drill will count with the participation of GRM (SVS Mountain Rescue Group), a group specialized in cliffs. Among its members is noteworthy Dr. Alvaro Pemartín de la Calle, currently Director of International Operations of SVS and leading international physician who has an extensive experience in the field of international emergency medicine and rescue. Recently he has been working in Sierra Leone in the mission of emergency response to Ebola.
During the drill -which will begin at 11:00 h.- will be simulated an evacuation of a victim with multiple injuries after falling from the cliffs next to the Cueva de los Arcos. During the rescue by land, GRM specialists will move the victim to a safe area where the medical team led by Dr. Alvaro Pemartín stabilize the victim.
Later, the wounded will be evacuated by sea with the SVS boat with a subsequent change to the Salvamar Levante, furthest from the coastline. SVS Lifeguard Services -hired by the City of Benitachell- received last year the Lifesaving Award granted by ADEAC-FEE. It should be noted that this distinction was awarded in 2014 to only three towns in Spain.
This test is performed annually at the beginning of the summer season to ensure the operative coordination in the same environment and prepare staff to real situations that may occur during the summer season. The service began last 15 June and will remain operational until 15 September.
