Neighbor Watch (“Vecinos Cooperando” in Spanish) initiative is now in Cumbre del Sol. This is a branch of the successful Neighbourhood Watch International Association.
More than 100 residents of Cumbre del Sol gather last Thursday 5 June at La Cumbre Restaurant to attend the presentation of the Vecinos Cooperando Association, where attendees could get the information about the other 50 chapters opened in Costa Blanca the last 15 years.
Neighbourhood Watch Cumbre del Sol was born with the aim of reducing crime in the community by increasing surveillance and, although the crime rate is much lower than in other municipalities, this initiative will contribute to reach even a lower rate.
Both Margaret Hales (President) and Andy Keen (Vice President) insisted that Vecinos Cooperando’s mission is to monitor and report to the local police, Guardia Civil and the Town in case of detecting suspicious behaviors as people strolling around empty houses.
The association makes available to the residents the website and email address to report suspicious behavior. For further information, please call coordinators Muriel y Mike Sadler to 634 343 400.
