Benissa Fira i Porrat and Sant Antoni fair
As every year the most important holiday of January is the festival held in honor of San Antonio, patron saint of animalsand one of the most important religious figures in Benissa, where takes place the traditional “Fira i Porrat de Sant Antoni “ one of the longest running fairs of the Valencia Region.
This year the fair began on Thursday 9 January and there will be scheduled events until Sunday 26 January. Check below the schedule for the first week of the event (14 to 19 January):
TUESDAY 14 at 20.00 h.: Opera in Cinema featuring “The Barber of Seville” by Rossini at the auditorium of the University seat.
WEDNESDAY 15t at 20.00 h.: Meditation session conducted by Juan Capó Ferrando. Classroom 2 of University seat.
THURSDAY 16 at 17.00 h.: Poetry Workshop: A monthly workshop for those interested in reading and writing contemporary poetry in Spanish and English. Venue: Sala Noble of University seat.
18:30 h.: Film “THE BIG LEBOWSKI” by Joel Coen , black comedy . Subtitled in Spanish. Venue: auditorium of University seat.
FRIDAY 17 from 18:00 h.: Children’s Day. Fair attractions for only 1.50 € .19.00 h .
Pelota Valenciana match: City of Massamagrell’s JESUS and SORO III Vs. City of Pedreguer’s GENOVES II , PERE i CARLOS. Venue: Ratchet court of Benissa at Hort de Bordes St.
19.00 h ;. Opening of the exhibition “Festival of Moors and Christians in Benissa: Costumes , photographs and other festive motifs” at University seat.
19:00 h.: Wine Tunnel: wine and tapas tasting organized by the Festival Committee Purissima Xiqueta 2014 at Purisima street .
III craft fair also at the Purisima Street. Opening of Toys exhibition organized by the Association of Housewives at the head office of the association in Pais Valencià Ave.
Inauguration of the painting exhibition of Esteve Adam “El paisaje elaborado” at the exhibition hall of the Centre d’ Art Taller d’ Ivars . Open until 9 February
20.00 h.: Tapas tasting at the popular tavern offered by Festival Committee at Sociedad Cultural.
20.30 h.: Concert of Benissa Band organized by Lyrical and Musical Society of Benissa in the auditorium of the Centre d’ Art Taller d’ Ivars.
SATURDAY 18: 3rd traveling craft show in La Purisima Street , Market Exhibition of new and used vehicles, workshop “HEALTH AND BEAUTY THROUGH FOOD”, by Amparo Santos in Casal de Asociaciones, room 5. Wine Tunnel . Wine and tapas tasting at the Placeta Vella at 12:00 and 19:00 h., and at 13:00 and 20:00 h., service of popular tavern with tasting of local foods and traditional tapas at Sociedad Cultural. Tasting of chocolate and donuts at 17:00 in Padre Andrés St.
At 20.30 h. there will be a meeting of Choirs at the Centre d’ Art Taller d’ Ivars .
