The coastline of the municipality of Benitachell and Moraig Cave will be prominent themes of the Spanish Speleology and Karst Science Society organizes (SEDECK) Conference
Moraig Cave and its surroundings is one of the central themes of the scientific conference to be held next weekend. The event –featured in the framework of a program entitled “Landscape and coastal caves of Marina Alta. The coastal Karst”- will explore scientific study and divulgation of information about coastal formations of Poble Nou de Benitachell.
Next Sunday 15 September there will be a sea and land guided tour along the coastal strip of Benitachell. People enrolled in the conference will have Professor Pedro Alfaro from University of Alicante as guide. Prof. Alfaro will explain the peculiarities of the Cova dels Arcs and its environment. On Saturday 14 September, participants will attend the conference “Retrospective of the work done in the Moraig” by José María Cortés from SIDMAR, “Hydrogeology of Benissa’s plains, recent research in the Moraig upwelling” by Juanjo Rodes “Les pesqueres del cingle a la Marina Alta”, by Jaume Buigues. The three conferences will have contents related to coastal geological formations around Poble Nou de Benitachell and the fishing tradition of the municipality.
Also on Saturday 14, the following lectures will take place at Espai la Senieta (Moraira) from 09:00 h.: “The coastal environment of the Marina Alta” , “Hipogenic caves”, “Underground Biology in hipogenic caves” , “Explorations in the Cova de l’ Aigua Dolça” and “Archaeological site of Cova de les Cendres at El Portet (Moraira)” .
