Xabia Folk 2013

The weekend of 10 to 12 May Jávea will host once again the Xabia Folk Festival, an event featuring renowned artists from around the world that this year celebrates its eleventh edition.

On Friday 10 May at 22:30 h. at the Church Square RODINKA (small family in Czech language) will perform the first concert of the Xabia Feolk. This band was formed by five women of two generations of the same family of Prague and installed in Limoux, south of France. Their repertoire comprises Slavic, gypsy and klezmer music full of nostalgia scented melodies and love songs.

On Saturday 11 May at 22:30 h. also at the Church Square, the Spanish band D’CALLAOS will offer a concert. This is one of the groups which have erupted with force in the music scene of the last decade in Spain with 3 albums released and performances in places like France, Germany, UK, Ireland, Portugal, Belgium, Hungary, Greece, Switzerland, Russia and Egypt, sharing the stage with artists as Chambao, Ojos de Brujo, Macaco or Manu Chao.

The band’s music has strong Andalusian roots, as we can notice with the voice of lead singer “La Canija”

On Sunday 12 May at 12:00 h. the Chapel of Santa Lucia will host a concert of  the singer and guitarist Eva Denia and Paco Lucas performing the songs of their latest album “Un altre cantar”. Their repertoire goes over some of the most traditional Valencia music such as fandango and malagueñas, ballads, lullabies, seguidillas and even some pieces from the modern pop.
