Moraig Beach
Benitachell city council just confirmed the starting of the works for the construction of 70 parking spaces in the vicinity of Cala Moraig. Benitachell’s Mayor Josep Femenia, together with technicians involved in the project, visited the area where the works will be carried out and stated that the parking will be completed before the start of the summer tourist season. The works will be executed by municipal services in collaboration with Grupo VAPF building company.
The Town of Benitachell proposed this project last year to ease traffic congestion and improve road safety around Moraig beach especially during the summer months. The elimination of the parking area in the lower part of the beach few years ago created a shortage for beachgoers.
The Council chose to take on the works to reduce costs and, in addition, negotiations with the company VAPF allowed to reach an agreement to reduce the costs initially estimated at € 55,000.
The project will create 23 places parking lot and 47 more places on the road that leads to Lirios residential estates.
Moreover, the Department of Environment has confirmed that the Council has taken the steps to certificate Moraig Beach with the Blue Flag award, an important recognition of environmental quality.
