San Antonio Festival in Benitachell
The Poble Nou de Benitachell’s “Penya de Cavallistes i carreters” (Cart and horsemen club) has scheduled a weekend party in the framework of the traditional San Antonio festival. After a couple of years doing only the blessing fest, this year the program has expanded to two days of performances of “bous al carrer” (bulls at the streets).
Schedule of San Antonio Festival in Benitachell
Friday 1 and Saturday 2 February:
Bulls release (“bous al carrer”) on Mayor and Jose Antonio Streets. The first day will begin at 18:30 h. with bulls from la Cometa ranch and 23:00 h. with bulls from Crespo ranch. On Saturday, February 2, there will be a continuous session of release of heifers from 17:00 to 21:00 h. with animals from La Cometa ranch.
Sunday 3 February:
Acts will focus on the traditional animal blessing of San Antonio, with chivalry meeting at 9:30 h. at José Antonio St. and lunch for the participants courtesy of Penya of Cavallistes i Carreters.
At noon there will be a parade across the town with the animation of Colla Llebetjà down to Market Square, where there will be a animal blessing. As a grand finale, there will be a “Fellowship Lunch” at 15:00 h. (reservation required at 687 08 64 06).
The Penya of Cavallistes invites both local residents and visitors to enjoy and participate in all the events.
