Once again the streets of Poble Nou de Benitachell are decked out for the celebration of the festivities in honour of the Virgen of the Rosary 2010.
We hereby highlight the most significant events of the fiestas schedule for 2010:
Saturday 1st May: bell ringing at 1pm to announce the beginning of the festivities; offering flowers to the Virgin at 7:30pm and from 12am, mobile discotheque.
Sunday 2nd May: traditional bread carrying ceremony from the Jaime Llobell Chapel to the Church at 11am, then Solemn Mass in honour of the Virgin of the Rosary and delivery of the blessed bread to all homes; in the evening procession at 8:30pm, firework display by the Dragon pyrotechnics company and later on at night, live musical performance by Trio La Viva.
Monday 3rd May: traditional cock races through Jose Antonio Street followed by a snack. In the afternoon, Big Fancy Dress Parade and handing out of free sandwiches and beer for all who are in fancy dress; mobile disco at night.
Tuesday 4th May: paella contest on José Antonio and Major Streets. The prizes are € 75 for first prize, second prize € 50 and € 30 third prize. In the afternoon, bull running.
Wednesday and Thursday 5th and 6th May: Bulls at 7pm.
Friday 7th May: at 7pm bulls and bull with burning wooden balls on its horns.
On Saturday 1st May and Sunday 2nd May: 1st Art and Crafts Fair in Poble Nou de Benitachell, in the Plaza Nueva square between 10am and 2pm and 4pm and 8pm.
