Living Chess in Jávea

Living Chess in Jávea

The 20th Jávea’s Living Chess – declared an event of National Tourist Interest – is going to take place on Saturday 30 July 2016from 20:00 h. This year’s theme will be “The Myth of the Cave of Plato”

This year’s theme is an allegorical tale with which Plato explains his theory of the existence of two worlds: the sensible world of appearances (which we perceive through the senses) and the world of ideas: the real one but only attainable only through reason. This Myth metaphorically describes the relation of the human being with these two worlds of knowledge.

The representation of the game is taking place in the presence of a narrator who is usually a local journalist, writer or celebrity and two players who are the local school chess champion and a guest of honor. The games are based in real famous chess games and the “living pieces” of the game will be played by a group of local schoolchildren from 6 and 14 years old.

Event organized by the Jávea’s Chess Club and Javea City.
