Today we would like to bring to all residents of Benitachell and Cumbre del Sol an overview of the latest news provided by the city council:
– A new skatepark was built at the park behind the church. There are a set of ramps and elements approved to the practice of skate, BMX and scooters. The skatepark was designed by Fhire Garcia, skateboarder and owner of Maniak Ramps.
– The City Council and the Association of Wine Growers of La Marina -along with the Biomoscatell project farmers- presented the application for Protected Designation of Origin for muscat grape at the Agriculture Council of Valencia Region. The petition adds value to that ancestral culture at the Marina Alta Benitachell.
– The mayor’s office and the Department of Fiestas del Poble Nou de Benitatxell joined the social sensitivity against animal abuse and excluded the encajonado bull and embolado (set in fire) bull from the fiestas programming. “Bous al carrer” (release of heifers and bulls) is still legal.
– Benitachell rehabilitated the Abiar recreational park. This is an area of unique beauty located next to the historical “Pous de l ‘Abiar”.
Workers cleared, painted and paved with gravel the area, which now has a barbecue, tables, wooden benches and a small well. The recovered space is located at an emblematic area of the municipality. In the park you can find a system of natural wells that supplied water to the population until the 70’s.
