Gastronomic Fair in Calp
From 15 to 18 May, Calpe will celebrate its maritime tradition through a food fair which will include sports and cultural activities related to the sea. The Fira del Peix de Calp i l´Arrós del Senyoret (1st Calpe’s Fish and Rice Fair) is a gastronomic and touristic event brought by the Town of Calp, Fishermen’s Association, Royal Yacht Club, Hospitality Association of Calpe and Calpe Tourism Consortium.
This event will also host the 1st Senyoret Rice Contest to be held in the facilities of the port.
The program includes guided tours to the fish auction facilities, culinary demonstrations in the contest, the “Night of fish and octopus”, rowing regattas, ocean baptisms from the Royal Yacht Club and the ethnological exhibition “Calpe: Tradition and sea”. Music will be also present in the event with the performance of the Rondalla de Calp and Colla de Xirimiters de Carellot.
This year will be a tribute to Vicente Belliure (founder of Belliure Shipyards) by renaming a street with his name. In addition it is also planned presentation of the “Calp, gastronomic city” project, one of the proposal presented at the Ideas Competition for the revitalization of the Old Town.
