Christmas Plans near Cumbre del Sol

Christmas Markets in la Costa Blanca

From now up to the first week of January, there are many Christmas markets in the many towns of la Costa Blanca. Artisanal products, food, hot drinks, and even charity stalls. All this and so much more for you to see at these Christmas fairs! Will you be going?

The Christmas magic is in full swing at Cumbre del Sol. In the town of Poble Nou de Benitatxell, this Sunday, 19 December, its streets will welcome a Christmas market that’s full of activities! Focussing on the little ones of the family, there will be children’s shows and a batucada for children too. And, at 12:00 you can enjoy a concert from the band GOSPEL IT with all the family.

A town really close to Cumbre del Sol is Teulada-Moraira, where this Sunday they’ll be getting into the Christmas spirit. In this market you’ll find independent sellers and associations. Being a solidarity market, all the proceeds go to the Red Cross. So, now you know, if you want to buy typical, local, artisanal products from this festive season, this is the place for you!

In Javea, the funds raised from the products sold in the market go to Caritas. In this case, the market has been open since 18 November and will close this Saturday, 18 December. Decorations, Christmas products and even a nativity scene! There’s still time to walk through these market laden streets.

BeniNadal, a big programme with Christmas activities

In Benidorm you can have fun with the “BeniNadal” programme that started 4 December. The children in your family will love this fair with its rides and ice rink. BeniNadal will be rolled out in different places, one of the highlights being the Christmas Grotto in l’Hort de Colon. This is where children can visit Santa a few days before Christmas Eve, something that the children will also love!

Christmas Markets

And going back to the topic of Christmas markets, BeniNadal also has one too! The “porrat navideño” (Christmas fair) is a place where you can find all sorts of artisanal products. And last but not least, the finale of BeniNadal is the three wise men parade, in the evening of 5 January. Go out and enjoy the most magical night of the year in Benidorm!

Festivities in your home in Cumbre del Sol

Another option is to party in style at home this Christmas. Here are some tips on how to organise a Christmas party without leaving Cumbre del Sol! With the stress of finding the perfect gift for your loved ones, decorating your home, and cooking up some delicious meals, you’ll be thankful for this quick list of tips we’ll give you to fully enjoy the holiday season.

Before anything else, we wanted to talk about the star of the show: food. As an appetiser, you can quickly put together a cheeseboard adorned with figs, nuts, and other dried fruit. Place it in front of your guests and you’re sure to wow them with this deliciously simple recipe. For the main, salmon wrapped in prosciutto served with vegetables on the side is an excellent and healthy option. And to finish, the dessert is easy – a simple but sweet turron de Jijona, a traditional Christmas delicacy in Alicante.

When it comes to decorating, you don’t need to fill every corner of your home with Christmas ornaments, but a few details here and there will help create a cosy atmosphere. For example, a Christmas wreath on the door to greet your guests, some candles, and tablecloths with a festive design on the dining table will make all the difference.

We hope you have a lovely Christmas in Cumbre del Sol with these tips. If you want more ideas, like where to buy Christmas presents in la Costa Blanca, or if you want more ideas on activities, keep up to date with our blog and follow us on Facebook e Instagram.

From Denia to Pilar de la Horadada: The Costa Blanca is a Mediterranean Paradise

From Denia to Pilar de la Horadada: The Costa Blanca is a Mediterranean Paradise

244 km of coastline, 20 villages and an average annual temperature of 18 °C. The Costa Blanca is a paradise, and we know we don’t have to do anything to prove it! Still, we want to tell you about some of the peculiarities of this region and encourage you to visit its most emblematic places.

First of all, why the name Costa Blanca (White Coast)? There are different theories, but the most convincing one is clear just by observing the landscape. From the sky, the view of this coast is, as its name suggests, white. From its sandy beaches to the architectural aesthetics of its villages and white homes like those of VAPF. This white contrasts with the crystal-clear blue waters that further enhance the radiance of the coastline. Another theory attributes this famous name to British Airlines.  According to this theory, the airline used this name in 1975 to promote a flight between London and Valencia.

If there is one thing that stands out about the Costa Blanca, it is the geography. Have you heard of the Peñón de Ifach? This corner of the region, located in Calpe, is home to a natural park that is free to visit but does require reservations. From Residential Resort Cumbre del Sol you can reach it in half an hour by car, so it’s a great option for a day trip!

But Calpe is much more! Without going any further, the Baños de la Reina (Queen’s Baths) is next to the Salinas de Calpe. These are artificial pools that are carved into the rock and which contain a lot of history. Initially dedicated to aquaculture, today they make up one more historical attraction along the Spanish Costa Blanca. You can enjoy activities such as snorkeling to discover its underwater tunnels.

We were talking about the characteristic white color that washes the facades of the Costa Blanca. It’s not just Santorini or Ibiza that enjoy such views! Just a few kilometers from Residential Resort Cumbre del Sol, Altea stands as a white paradise. This town is beautiful from the outside but holds just as much charm on the inside. Its many monuments and landmarks show the passage of time and the mark that history has left on it. A good overview of all this can be experienced by taking a walk through the Old Town. It stands out for its preserved old town with its cobblestone streets, white houses and flowerpots.

And if you are a history buff, you can head towards Denia. Just over half an hour’s drive from Residential Resort Cumbre del Sol, here you can travel through centuries of history in just one day! Denia Castle is home to Roman, Muslim and medieval Christian remains. These traces can be found all over the city, from the historic district of Les Roques to the Torre del Gerro. The latter is a watchtower-built centuries ago with the aim of controlling the coast and its visitors.

All this geography filled with history and incomparable natural landscapes offers many interesting hiking routes. In Denia, the Montgó natural park is both a landscape and a viewpoint from which to contemplate the Mediterranean Sea. The hiking trails are only part of the many routes that can be done from Cumbre del Sol. One can also enjoy them cycling, scuba diving, etc…. there is no time for boredom!

So you can see that your life at Cumbre del Sol is filled with plans surrounded by nature and full of history. And for more suggestions, don’t hesitate to visit our blog and follow us on Facebook and Instagram you too can be part of the Costa Blanca!

Say Goodbye Winter and Hello to Spring at the “Fesalí, Alcalalí in Bloom”

Say Goodbye Winter and Hello to Spring at the “Fesalí, Alcalalí in Bloom”

Even though winter hasn’t officially ended, spring has already started to blossom in the province of Alicante. Wintertime is usually synonymous with cold weather, rain or even snow, but that’s not the case on the Costa Blanca! At Residential Resort Cumbre del Sol, our residents have the luxury of waking up to sunny skies and pleasant weather almost all year long. Spring is the best time of year to discover new and colourful places near your home, which is why the town of Alcalalí is the perfect place to visit! It is offering the opportunity to look at life through rose coloured glasses during their four-weekend long “Feslalí, Alcalalí in Bloom” festival (Feslalí, Alcalalí en flor).

Throughout February, the landscape is painted in pink as the almond trees, which are so characteristic of the area, can be seen in full bloom. For the fifth year in a row, Alcalalí celebrates the flowering of these trees with a wide range of activities that can be enjoyed throughout the month. Located in La Marina Alta, Alcalalí is only a 30-minute drive from your home at Residential Resort Cumbre del Sol. Don’t miss the opportunity to spend your weekends taking part in events, contests, hikes and more!

The festival kicks off on the 1st of February with the inauguration of a tapas route in which almonds are, naturally, the star ingredient. Each establishment has prepared special menus, exclusive to the festival, aimed to celebrate the arrival of spring through classic tapas dishes with a twist. Visit different bars and restaurants in Alcalalí throughout the month and revel in this unique gastronomic experience. As you tour through Alcalalí and savour all these amazing dishes, don’t forget to pick up your camera and take part in the photomarathon! If you enjoy photo-tourism, this event is for you! Participate in the photography contest and preserve the memories you’ll be making among the budding trees.

The contests don’t end there; you can participate in a baking competition the very next day! The main requirement is the use of Alcalalí’s famous almonds as the primary ingredient. If baking isn’t for you or you just want to appreciate the blossoming trees even more, then you can join in on one of the various hikes organised every weekend. Additionally, on the 15th, you can challenge yourself and hike up the 13km ‘Peña Talaia’ trail, and on the 16th, your pet can join in on the festivities with you during the pet-friendly hike.

If you’re more theatrically inclined, the second weekend of the festival offers theatre performances which highlight various issues facing the community. There is also a gymkhana on Sunday at City Hall. Meanwhile, the third weekend is once again all about food. It’ll be impossible to run out of things to do! Don’t hesitate and look through the festival’s programming that lists all the activities this charming town has in store for the next few weekends.

The festival ends with a bang, hosting both an artisan market full of handmade goods and local products, as well as a fair accompanied by performances and parades. Children can also take part in traditional songs and games on either day respectively. There’s truly something for everyone, so take the opportunity to celebrate spring a little early thanks to Alicante’s idyllic surroundings and weather!
