But there’s more, as these perfect conditions have made it a real paradise for golf lovers, as the climate is ideal for keeping courses in excellent conditions and for enjoying the Mediterranean climate as you take a few swings . Keep reading and we’ll tell you all about the  best golf courses on the Costa Blanca Norte.

Jávea Golf Club

No way could we begin our list of golf courses without putting Club de Golf Jávea at the top, at just 10 minutes away from Residential Resort Cumbre del Sol. The course is set on a gentle slope with 9 holes and greens in perfect conditions. The surrounding palm trees, pines and orange trees will make you feel in the middle of nature. Don’t be put off by the fact that there are only 9 holes, because on the second round people can play from different positions and places, which in effect, makes it just like an 18 hole course. The course facilities include a practice green with 14 golf mats, 10 of which are covered, and these are the perfect place to practice your technique. The course also has a Social Club facing the river estuary boasting various species of koi carp and terrapins, along with a restaurant, café and Junior Golf School where kids can learn to play golf with the help of some of the best golf professionals around.

Club Golf Ifach

Another great golf course is Club de Golf Ifach, which is 20 minutes from your home and is a 9 hole courses (with six par 3 and three par 4), equipped with a practice area with 4 cabins, approach area with bunkers and a putting green. It’s a peaceful relaxed place with views of the  Peñón de Ifach where you can while away the time practising your favourite sport. Later, you can have a drink in the café or enjoy the varied menu on offer at the restaurant. Not only that, but the club’s facilities are available to members and visitors including the swimming pool and tennis court, and you can hold events and celebrations there.

La Sella Golf Club

Continuing with our list of courses, we come to La Sella Golf Club, in Denia. Set by the sea, and protected by the Montgó mountain, this club will make your swings a different experience with its 9 holes spread over three greens each with a different story and its own special features, as you will discover if you check out their website; not to mention their restaurant El Hoyo 19, with its great selection of traditional rice dishes, sandwiches and other delicious things to eat. And why not finish off a great day on the course by treating yourself to the spa circuit?

club golf altea

Altea Club de Golf

We have yet another recommendation, and that’s the Altea Club de Golf, which is the Sierra de Bernia. This is a par 72 course where you can play 9 to 18 holes, providing a real challenge for golfers of every calibre. The club also provides facilities for members and visitors that include 2 petanque courts where players can use their own bowls or rent them at the restaurant, and you can even join a club that plays every Sunday morning.

Villaitana Golf

And last but not least, you can also practise your best swing surrounded by countryside but with the Benidorm skyline on the horizon at Villaitana Golf, with its 2 golf courses designed by  Nicklaus Design: the Poniente with its par 62 course 3,858 metres in length and with  views of both sea and mountains, a shorter yet challenging course surrounded by a harmonious backdrop of trees, plants and streams, and the Levante, a par 72 course designed in the American style with wide paths and over 6,576 metres in length.

¿Costa Blanca North or South? Which one is for you?

¿Costa Blanca North or South? Which one is for you?

The Spanish Levante is one of the most attractive and charming parts of Spain. We’re talking about the Costa Blanca, obviously a popular destination in summer, but which can become your own private paradise at any season of the year.

From north to south, the Costa Blanca is pure beauty and nature. The climate is one of the main attractions in this area as it has many hours of sunshine for most of the year, along with mild winters which, for people from northern and central Europe are pleasantly bearable. In fact, a curious little snippet of information from the World Health Organisation has singled out this region as the healthiest place in Europe, thanks to the excellent climate that we mentioned.

The Costa Blanca includes the Alicante coast from Denia to Pilar de la Horadada, around 220 km of coastline, with a surface area of 5.817 Km² and with 141 municipal districts. And which is best? Would you choose north or south? We tell you about some of the differences and the advantages of living in both zones of the Costa Blanca.

Costa Blanca Norte

Both the north and south of the Costa Blanca have some amazing places to visit and offer some unique experiences. However, there are significant differences between the two areas.

The Costa Blanca Norte extends from Benidorm to Denia. One of the main features that distinguishes the north from the south is the countryside, in particular the mountains that are so close to the sea. Can you imagine paddling in the sea yet surrounded by mountains? It’s amazing! The Costa Blanca Norte is a unique place to enjoy this spectacle of nature where sea and mountains meet (Montgó Natural Park and the Sierra de Altea) with a geography that has produced an infinite number of coves, beaches, caves (such as the Cova dels Arcs) and pine forested hills sweeping down to cliff tops that afford impressive sea views, and what’s more, here in the Costa Blanca Norte you will find the highest peaks in Alicante province.

playas costa blanca norte

The most popular and picturesque stretch of coastline here begins in the municipal district of Altea. In the Costa Blanca Norte, there is much less tourist development than in the south, and the area boasts towns and villages with all the beauty and charm of the province that are Mediterranean 100% which, while unquestionably remaining a tourist attraction, are places that have nevertheless managed to retain their “Mediterranean VILLAGE identity””. Life on the Costa Blanca Norte is synonymous with quality, luxury and tranquillity, evidenced in towns and municipalities like Altea, Calpe, Jávea, Benissa and TeuladaMoraira. Their old town centres are replete with centuries of history, and their coastal areas include beaches, natural coves and inlets, and cliffs sweeping down to the sea, all spectacularly beautiful. An example are the famous rocky coves of Moraig, Llebeig and la Granadella although you can find many more in this article.

Costa Blanca Sur

The southern end of the Costa Blanca is typically a much flatter landscape. The high mountains and hills give way to salt water lagoons, as in Torrevieja, where salt is extracted, and extensive sand dunes (between Alicante and Torrevieja).
The coastline has long stretches of sandy beach (Playa del Cura, Las Higuericas, El Campello). These beaches are perfect for tourists of every kind, and so they are practically full during the summer. The Southern Costa Blanca is one of the most popular destinations for both national and international tourists.

The area has many apartment blocks and enormous residential complexes, and a wide range of varied tourist accommodation. The Costa Blanca Sur has become one of the biggest areas for second homes in Spain, and consequently has a huge provision of real estate and properties available. The standard features of the homes and the extensive range of properties means that the average price per m2 is much lower than in the Costa Blanca Norte, where construction is far more exclusive, characterised by blocks of fewer, yet more spacious apartments, with luxury services such as SPAs, gymnasiums or Wellness areas, or villas with contemporary architecture on the mountain slopes, large gardens, terraces and private pools that merge with views of the sea in the distance.

Nature, culture and the architectural style in the southern Costa Blanca are all very different from the north, as this post has shown.

The Costa Blanca is life, nature, and unique surroundings. An enormously heterogeneous place where you can lose yourself in its sandy coves or climb to the highest point in Alicante province in the Costa Blanca Norte, or you can enjoy long walks along its endless beaches and admiring its landscape of dunes and salt pans.  However, there is one thing shared by both north and south that we mentioned at the start of this post, and that is the Mediterranean climate. The Costa Blanca enjoys over 300 days of sunshine annually and the temperature is ideal for living there all year round. A perfect microclimate

North or south? We know which we would choose. Now it’s your turn.

Look out for our future blog posts where we will be informing you all about what’s going on in the Costa Blanca Norte and in and around Residential Resort Cumbre del Sol.

Alifornia: a province for summer living

Alifornia: a province for summer living

The province of Alicante is also known as Alifornia, especially during the summer months, a verbal pun combining Alicante and California, because the fact is the holiday vibe, the endless stretches of sandy beaches and the culture and nightlife have made Alicante and its coastal towns more than a match for the American Golden State.

Now that summer is here and the sun and the blue of the Mediterranean set the scene with a landscape bound to make anyone smile, we propose a series of plans and activities of all kinds to get the very best out of this little piece of California in Europe (or maybe California is the American Alicante? Calicante perhaps?)

Alicante – History and leisure

Just an hour’s drive by car from Cumbre del Sol, in the heart of Alicante city, you can visit the Castle of Santa Bárbara. This historic fortress makes the most of the summer months and until 4 September 2022 it has extended its opening hours from 10 am to 11 pm and alongside the extra hours a huge range of leisure and entertainment activities are available. From 15 to 17 July you can visit an area that offers gastronomy, decoration and a great atmosphere with pirate and medieval themed exhibitions.  Musicians and actors will be performing all over the place and there will be a market with craft stalls, along with games and children’s entertainment. There are many more activities that you can check out by clicking on this link.

Music and Mediterranean sea: a great combo

Music in the open air, an area with restaurants, cocktail bars and beach clubs Sounds good right? Well then this summer you need to take a trip down to the port of Alicante,  which will be hosting  the  StageConfetti y Fiera event. Rulo y la Contrabanda, Shuarma, The Levitans and Mon Laferte, are just some of the first acts who have signed up to perform on stage in the new venue at the Port of Alicante.

And for true music buffs, you couldn’t do better than take a look at the agenda of Área 12. It’s the perfect place in Alicante to take in a concert and then go for a drink at the Mahou Beer Garden. Leiva, Beret e Izal, and many more artistes will be performing there this summer. Other interesting possibilities are the music events Low Festival and Boombastic. You’re spoilt for choice. Take your pick!

Something a bit more chilled?

As we mentioned at the start of this post, the Alifornian spirit pervades not only the provincial capital but it is also thriving in Costa Blanca Norte.  Live and enjoy the Summer any way you want. Who wouldn’t like something a little more relaxing from time to time. If you don’t feel like spending a day on the amazing beaches and sandy coves that line the coast, why not enjoy some theatre at Auditori de Altea or a guided walk through one of Benissa’s charming areas.
