On Friday 27 and Saturday 28 July, Jávea’s City Market merchants are organizing a day full of activities in the framework of “El gust is Nostre” event, including displays and tasting of craft beer and oils; for sure a great opportunity to get to know local cuisine and ingredients.
Jávea Food Market -better known as Mercat Municipal- is the best place in town for finding the best local produce from both sea and countryside.
Jávea’s Municipal Food is located since 1946 in an old nuns’ convent building in the Celestino Sq. (old part of town) which keeps its original design and architecture.
In its 800sq. meters stalls area we can find the specific sections for trading of meats, cheeses, cold meats and poultry; fish and seafood, fruits and vegetables, pickles, canned meats, breads, pastries and cakes, bar and cafe ; frozen products and drugstore.
The market vendors association of Jávea continuously participates and organizes Town initiatives to encourage shopping in the Food Market. In appreciation for the loyalty of its customers, market vendors association is organizing a ham tasting aimed to teach the attendees how to differentiate from different kinds of hams and cuts.
The opening hours of the municipal market in Jávea are Monday through Friday from 08:00 to14: 00 h. and 17:00 to 21:00 h. and Saturday morning from 08:00 to 14:00 h.
